Something to celebrate: Despite the assaults on our liberty, our common sense, and the belief of equality for all, we still stand. May we do so — stronger — well into the future.
Same to you and Diane, George. Any barbecue plans? Hot wings? We’re going traditional but fattening – hot dogs (actually knockwurst) with beans, potato salad and Cole slaw and pickles, and strawberry shortcake for dessert.
Jeff, Diane has hamburgers and hot dogs on the dinner menu with Cole slaw, green beans, and pasta salad. Dessert includes Diane’s delicious Apple Pie Bars and ice cream. The temps are predicted to hit the mid-1980s so I’ll be staying in the A/C.
Happy 4th to you too, George and all the others here!
This always brings up fond memories (may have written about this before, sorry)
In the middle of June 2006 after my wife had died from cancer I felt lonely so one evening I went to my favourite bar (been there regularly over the last 30 years, a lot of friends). I sat outside – alone and was wondering wtf is going on? Where are all the other regular guests?
Then I heard noise from the inside and realised everybody was watching the soccer world cup on the large screen …
I drank up and went to my favourite last minute travel agency and saw …
A really good offer for a flight to RSW and a motel on the beach in Ft Myers Beach, booked instantly of course.
While having a lovely holiday including a visit to Sanibel I realised that I would be there still on 4th !
So in the evening I walked along the beach to thr pier and watched the fireworkd.
That was a really great holiday – like all the other almost 20 in the good ol’ USA!
Get togethers and cookout with the kids and grandkids. Best kind of cookout, no work for Donna and me except to turn up and eat. Probably watch the Capitol 4th concert and fireworks on PBS tonight. Pray god, no idiot sets off a last string of loud firecrackers on the apartment grounds at 2 o’clock in the morning, Anyway, a joyous holiday wish to all.
And to you and yours, George.

Jerry, united we stand…at least some of us. Have a great 4th!

You picked a real gem with Diane, George. I don’t know many people our age who puts out a meal like that.
Patti, Diane loves to cook and bake. And, I love to eat…so we’re a perfect fit! Happy 4th to you!
Happy 4th to you too, George. Your evening meal does sound delicious.
Tracy, food and fun just makes the 4th of July better! The best of Independence Day to you and your family!
Time to go up on the roof and throw firecrackers at the neighbor’s dogs.
Dan, we’ve had annoying fireworks going off every evening for the past week. What a waste of money!
Happy 4th to you too, George and all the others here!

Fred, yesterday was full of firecrackers and loud “booms.” Most of them ended after midnight.
