Ridiculous wealth usually does nothing to curb cluelessness.
My Italian/Cherokee mother never seemed too worked up about Columbus Day. Colombo Day might’ve been a better fit for her patrilineal side…of course, the Spanish called him Colon, and you may make your own comedy of humors jokes thus.
Neeru, I had the same problem with WORDPRESS on your blog, too. WORDPRESS blocked my comments so I’m emailing them to you now. Feel free to email your comments to me and I’ll post them here.
Kent, Happy Thanksgiving! The traffic on the International Bridges into the U.S. are very busy today. Our stores are open and the Canadians crossing the Bridges are in a buying mood!
Just read somewhere that DNA tells us Columbus was peobably a Spanish Jew …

Go, Bills. Woody Johnson needs to sell the Jets to someone with a clue.

Happy Monday Holiday to us all!
Todd, I was always a fan of Long Weekends! Having Monday off made for a Short Week ahead, too.
I had not heard of such a day before. Why call it Columbus Day if it is dedicated to the indigenous people? Have a great day!
Neeru, Columbus is demonized in some quarters. Indigenous Peoples Day appeals to another set of people.
Neeru–And for a century+ it has been Columbus Day in the US…in recent years, Indigenous People have been volubly Taking Exception.
I am happy my comment went through. For some time past, WP did not let me post comments on your posts.

A much better time for Thanksgiving.
Well, US T-day is one of those feast days meant to buoy spirits as Winter Comes…Canada’s seem more like a harvest festival.
Todd, with Climate Change, our Thanksgiving will be more of a Harvest Festival as temps get warmer.
Patti, the Canadians have a lot of Good Ideas!
