An Easter flower arrangement from Diane’s sister Carol.
Enjoy. I’m probably having something from Stouffer’s tonight. Or a frozen pizza,
Steve, I’ve been making my own pizza. Yummy! Happy Easter!
Happy Easter! We will be having our traditional grilled lamb (currently marinating in a yogurt-onion-lemon-garlic-spice mixture), creamed spinach, Yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes, and gravy. We purchased a couple of desserts: a chocolate cream pie and a chocolate cake. In lieu of attending Church, before we eat, we will read John 20:1-31 (King James Version, of course).
Deb, Happy Easter to you and your family! Your menu sounds delicious! I love creamed spinach! Diane already “sampled” the 17-layer Chocolate Cake and pronounced it “wonderful!”
I’m heading for Deb’s house, if only in my fantasy! Grilled lamb, yum. My mother used to make wonderful leg of lamb and Jackie learned the recipe from her. It’s been a long time since she made one, though. Yorkshire pudding! And chocolate cream pie is a favorite.
Of course, we do not celebrate Easter. The original plan was leftover frozen pizza, but I discovered our favorite local Chinese restaurant has reopened for takeout and delivery, so we’re planning to order in food later on.
Happy Easter.
Jeff, Diane and I wanted to support our local restaurants as much as we can. Many are closed. The Webster Bistro specializes in French cuisine. Diane’s hoping they’re offering this Take-Out service for Mothers’ Day, too.
Looks good!
The young lady I’m seeing plans to stop by today. We’re going to attempt a Seafood Boil.
Dan, good luck with the Seafood Boil!
Shelter in place plus social distancing, Dan. Tsk, tsk.
I’ll take one of everything from Webster’s menu, thank you please.
Also, does Deb deliver?
Hope you and Diane have a wonderful socially distant Easter, George!
Jerry, Happy Easter to you and your family! Deb could make a lot of money if she started a Take-Out service! If you ever visit Western New York, I’d be happy to take you to dinner at the Webster’s Bistro.
Leftover Pad Thai for me.
Surprised to hear Dan is having a guest drop by. You would incur a huge fine if caught doing that in Michigan.
Patti, “visiting” is not encouraged here, but no one is enforcing the restrictions. Hope you and your family have a Happy Easter despite the pandemic.
What the devil happened to your caps shift key? CapShift-19 Virus?
I’m roasting a chicken today.
Art, the coronavirus may have infected my keyboard. I thought Diane would opt for the chicken from the Webster’s Bistro, but she went with traditional ham for Easter.
That sounds amazing, the entire menu from Websters sounds amazing. So does Deb’s menu.
I’m invited to a friends house for dinner, but not sure if I will go. They are all healthy, as am I, so I might go and take my temp before I enter the house. It’s a hard decision.
I’m also supporting local places, but with less quality. I got a sweetpotato/yam curry at a vegan thai place, but the first 2 servings only had regular potatoes. There’s one serving left with a few sweet potato chunks. I got ribs from a BBQ place yesterday, but they were way too charred for my taste. They had good grilled veggies that I added to the rest of the curry which will probably be what I eat today. I have some banana pudding left from a pudding shop that opened on March 14. How he’s still open is a mystery to me.
An upscale Mexican place I’ve wanted to go to for a long time has a takeout menu that I may try. It’s family portion, so it should last a long time. It’s downtown and usually has no parking and wait lines, so now is a good time to try it.
Maggie, I wish we had a Mexican restaurant close by. Mighty Taco is open for Take-Out but I’d prefer a more upscale place like yours. We had a really good BBQ restaurant about 10 minutes away, but it closed when the coronavirus hit.
Maggie, don’t go. Shelter in place is in effect.
Happy Easter, everyone. Of course we’re staying at home.
We’re having ham, scolloped potatoes, green beans, salad and for dessert chocolate Oreo poke cake with Cool Whip topping. a recipe I got from Janet Rudolph. It will be in the high 60s today so we may get out into the garden for a while, we have some movies on the DVR and we’re working on a puzzle. It will be a nice relaxing day.
Rick, this is a very weird Easter for us. Usually, we’re in Ohio for Easter at Diane’s sister’s house. Or, in Boston visiting Katie. Being home, alone, is strange.
Update: unfortunately, despite what it said online, our Chinese place is closed. So is Peppino’s, a favorite Italian restaurant. We ended up with Istanbul Bay, who delivered in under half an hour from when Jackie called. We had a Mediterranean salad, baba ghanoush with homemade rolls, chicken souvlaki sandwiches on homemade bread (we saved one for tomorrow’s lunch), and baklava for a special dessert. Now I’m full.
We will have to check which other neighborhood restaurants are open, as we want to keep using favorite places. Our #1 Italian restaurant, Gino’s, is closed. The local Indian restaurant, Bombay Grill, is open. Chipotle delivers but Jackie didn’t want that.
Jeff, one of our local TV stations has a list of restaurants who are offering Take-Out. But, the list keeps changing.
The Daily News has a section where local restaurants can list if they are open and whether they have takeout or delivery or what. It runs online and in the newspaper at least once a week.
Jeff, Diane and I find the online Take-Out lists useful. But, the lists keep changing so we have to monitor the restaurants day-by-day.
Happy Easter (or Hanukah or whatever …) to everybody from sunny Hungary!
We had more than 22degrees Celsius (70 Fahrenheit) today so my wife arranged lunch in the garden.
Fennel soup with some Ouzo, ham and a mixed salad.
My wife’s son joined us with his wife and daughter who was very happy to search for Easter presents all over the garden.
Now we’re just waiting how the lockdown and separation will work out.
Wolf, same here. Trump wants to open the U.S. on May 1 but all his health advisors are warning him against it. Happy Easter to you and your wife!
Since I’m a pagan I don’t celebrate these holidays, but Linda is making ham, potato salad, and some other appropriate dishes.
Bob, sounds yummy to me!
Bob, we are totally areligious too – but a reason to cook and eat something special is always welcome.
Today we’ll have the duck that we bought or actually that was delivered to us from a farmer – he raises the best ducks in the world!
What an elaborate spread!
We had an 11 lb ham – for two people – and mashed potatoes and gravy. Yum!
We also accidentally had creamed corn, which was REALLY sweet. I improved my portion with a couple of hits of Tabasco.
Beth, Diane was in the mood for Elaborate when it came to Eater dinner. I’m a big fan of corn in any form. And Tabasco, too!
