Happy Easter to all of you!
Our granddaughter (11 years) is with us but we had to cancel the obligatory painting eggs and then searching for Easter Eggs – it just turned really cold and rainy.
So everybody in the family is sitting in front of their computers – only my wife does some cooking.
We’re having cauliflower soup and I save some cauliflower for my favourite salad. Then some baked chicken left overs and duck breast.
Green salad with paprika – which like other vegetables has become horridly expensive here, a kilo costs 6 to 7 €!
I wanted some asparagus but at 15€ per kilo my wife said:
No! We’ll wait for a reasonable price.
So what are you having?
Wolf, we’re having the traditional Easter ham, apple sauce, green beans, potato casserole, sweet potato casserole, salad, and Easter eggs. Dessert: Easter cookies, chocolate cake, and Polish placek. Happy Easter to you and your family!
The Easter Bunny was very good to me, sending me a box of books. He must know that I can easily OD on chocolate, jelly beans, and Peeps, but will never OD on books. I really have to thank the Easter Bunny for them.
After two years of a Covid shutdown, we are back to renting a pavilion at Blackwater State Park for our Easter festivities. Burgers, dogs, and sausages will be cooked, family activites will be attempted, relaxation will be achieved.
Jerry, glad you made the Easter Bunny’s gift list! Hope you enjoy the contents of the Easter Box…especially the Lems! Have fun at the pavilion at Blackwater State Park!
We’re hosting the “in-laws” (as I have taken to calling—in a good way— Julia’s boyfriend and his parents). We’ll be having our traditional lamb marinated overnight in a yogurt/lemons/onions/spices mixture and slow-cooked for several hours on the Big Green Egg. I’ll be making our usual sides of creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, and Yorkshire pudding, but in addition to those, I’m also making a platter of roasted veggies (onions, carrots, parsnips, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts). We’ll have gravy, but John also made a mint chimichurri sauce last night (fresh parsley, fresh mint, garlic, olive oil, and vinegar blended to a paste) which will be killer on the lamb. The in-laws are bringing dessert, and we have vanilla and chocolate ice cream ready for accompaniment. Have a great day everyone!
Deb, as usual you have an outstanding menu for Easter! Plenty of yummy food! I listed our Easter dinner menu in my reply to Wolf. Of course, Diane may come up with surprise additions by dinner time! Happy Easter to you and John and all of your family!
Neeru, thank you for your kind wishes! After a week of rain, we’re finally in a period of sun and more moderate temperatures. Hope the weather is improving where you are, too!
I’m going to Deb’s for Easter – I wish! Sounds yummy. Hope you’re having a good time in Ohio, George.
Since we had no Passover Seder here, we’re having kind of a belated one today, with chopped liver, gefilte fish, matzoh and matzoh ball soup with chicken and noodles.
Jeff, I think we all would like to go to Deb’s for Easter dinner! We had our traditional Polish dinner last night: Polish Pierogis, Polish kielbasa, Diane’s fabulous Mac & Cheese, Kapusta, salad, and rye bread. Dessert: lemon cake, chocolate cream pie, and Easter cookies.

Always have referred to my womanfriends’ families as the “out-laws”…some of them have taken to that notion more readily than others…
Happy Holy Week, Abrahamic sorts! And all the other spring festivals…
Todd, Happy Easter to you, too!
Happy Easter to you and your family, George. Have a great day.

Saw a statuette of Jesus in a gift shop recently, I thought it was carved wood, but the sales clerk told me, “He is resin!”
Dan, I’m not going to try to resin with you!
