Happy father’s day to you too, George – and all the fathers out there!
Rather OT:
In Germany Fathers day doesn’t exist as an official holiday – but on the day of Corpus Christi which is a holiday in parts of Germany fathers (and non-fathers too …) go out for a barbecue and heavy drinking. Often they have beer keg (between 5 and 25 liters) on a cart which has to be emptied of course …
Happy Father’s Day, George, and all you other fathers out there.
We’ll be in the city this afternoon, seeing a matinee of THE BOOK OF MORMON. It’s gonna be a hot one, 88 and humid, with tomorrow being even hotter (95).
Patti, thanks for your FATHER’S DAY wishes! The best to Phil, too. Most of the nation is baking in Above Average Heat. But…of course there’s no Global Warming.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! John’s Dad died nine years ago; my Dad died last August—so this is the first Father’s Day that neither of us have a father to wish Happy Father’s Day to. The girls got John a throwback Nolan Ryan Astros jersey (one daughter is working in Houston this summer) and we took him out for dinner last night. We also gave him some of his favorite Dove and Ghiradelli dark chocolates. But we’re spending the morning at the local laundromat because our own washer & dryer are not large enough to wash comforters. Good times!
Deb, sounds like John is Living Large with his Nolan Ryan jersey and all that Dove and Ghiradelli chocolate! Patrick and Katie gave me Michael Chabon’s new book about his father, POPS (my review will be up on this blog soon). Pizza is on the menu today! And, of course, watermelon for dessert!
Rick, my sister from Arizona was in town last week so we took her to a swanky restaurant. I just saw THE INCREDIBLES 2 and there’s really nothing out there I want to see in the theaters. And it’s hot as Hell here today so A/C, a cool beverage, and a good book is all I need to be happy. I’m looking forward to pizza for dinner.
George, your weather seems to be extreme – at least for us Europeans. We hav the Gulf Stream as moderator, luckily – but you have A/C … 🙂
PS:
Totally forgot to congratulate you on your selection of the Father’s Day picture – very nice!
Especially after what I’ve read on some internet sites re the Obama family – some people are really horrible!
What a nice picture!
Happy father’s day to you too, George – and all the fathers out there!

Wolf, thanks for you kind FATHER’S DAY wishes. But we all know mothers do the Heavy Lifting.

Jeff, you and Jackie will enjoy THE BOOK OF MORMON. My favorite song: “Baptize Me.” Western NY is cooking today, too! Tomorrow we may hit the 90s.
Hot here too, Jeff, 87 today, 89 tomorrow, in 90s Tuesday.
Oh, for those wonderful days. Have a great one, George. Going to be in the mid-nineties here.

I hope you and all the other great fathers out there have a fantastic day, George!
Jerry, hope you have a great FATHER’S DAY, too!

Rick, thanks for the kind FATHER’S DAY wishes. I’m just hunkered down with the A/C and enjoying a good book! Perfect!
No swanky restaurant, fun movie, pizza, etc.?
It’ll be 87 here today, 89 tomorrow, 91 Tuesday, so we’ll have the air on in the afternoon and evenings.

You look just like your old man!
Bob, black is beautiful!

Wolf, the U.S. is baking with heat right now. We could use some rain, too.
