Patti, usually on Thanksgiving Patrick and Katie and their friends put up the tree. But this year, Patrick and Katie didn’t make it home for Thanksgiving so Diane and I assembled the tree. Diane decorated it with lights and ornaments. We’ll probably take the Christmas tree down over Martin Luther King weekend.

Happy New Year, everybody! May 2019 be a year of unalloyed joy and happiness, free from want or pain. Barring that, may we all make it through to this time next year. As on every January 1 for the past 33 years, I plan to spend the day taking down Christmas decorations and the tree.

Happy New Year to you nd your entire family, George. May 2019 be safe and happy for you all.

We’ll take down the tree and decorations today, starting when the Rose Parade is over. The tree comes down and all the rest in the house, then we’ll be back to “normal”, whatever that is. The cat has bonded with the tree, or rather sleeping under it, so he’ll have to adjust. So will we, we get used to having the tree and lights.

For 2019: More reading, I hope, I have lots of new books to read, and many on hold at the library. More exercise (which won’t be hard), and I’ll try to be more kind and less critical. We’ll see. One way to stay sane and mellow is to ignore a lot of the news, especially that which comes out of the nation’s capital. I hope your resolutions are kept and appreciated, George, and that the new year is better financially than you predict.

Rick, I hope I’m wrong about the 2019 Recession. But if the Economy tanks, a lot of people are going down with it. We’re seeing how many Government workers–who aren’t getting paid–live paycheck to paycheck. That house of financial cards will topple for millions of people if the Recession hits.

Bob, I thought “humbug” was a Christmas expression (according to Charles Dickens). And, I think Rick Robinson copyrighted “Bah!”
