I’m taking the Seattle Seawhawks and the 2 1/2 points.
Who do you think will win the Super Bowl today?

Touchdown!
I’m going with the Seahawks because their defense has impressed me the last two weeks, but they have to get pressure on Peyton Manning or he will beat them.
To be honest, even though I’ll be rooting for Seattle I am not invested emotionally the way I would have been had the 49ers or Saints been in the game (or maybe even Carolina).
Jeff, like you, I’ve been impressed with the Seahawks all season long. They seem like the best team to me. I know the public loves Peyton and wants to see him win another Super Bowl, but I don’t think it’s going to happen this year.
Since the Saints aren’t in it, I’m kinda meh about the whole thing–but looking forward to some delicious BBQ (courtesy of my grillmeister husband) and other game day fare. I don’t know about the point spread, but I’m giving the win to the Broncos–if only because of Peyton Manning being a local boy, as it were.
My blog post says it all: Go Seahawks! I’m afraid of the Denver offense, and it will take a good game from Wilson and Lynch to win. If the good Seahawks team shows up they will win, if the so-so, happy-feet Wilson, missing tackles, turn it over Seahawks team shows up, they’ll be left playing catch up and that’s hard against the Bronco offense. So we’ll see.
Food? We’re having he usual snacks, then chili and cornbread for the meal and brownies later.
I guess all the blizzard predictions a month ago were as accurate as most long-term forecasts are: not at all. In fact it is not only way warmer than it has been most of the winter but quite a bit above the average for this date.
Of course, it is over 80 down here in South Florida.
All over but the bragging. I don’t think anyone dreamed the game would be so lopsided, but I’m delirious with joy at the outcome. The Hawks had in going in every department and turned the hated Broncos into a bunch of Shetland ponies.
During the pre-game blah, blah Fox showed a map of the U.S. showing the fan base. The Pacific Northwest was blue and the whole rest of the country orange. Honestly, I couldn’t tell who the fans were rooting for, just that they were yelling. They did get one of the better halftime shows in recent years.
I had the Seahawks pegged for a 10 point win, not a blowout, but once Manning was pressured and throwing poorly it seemed the whole team collapsed. I have my Seahawks Championship T-shirt ordered.
Deb, now you see why your good Saints got beat. The Seahawks are just better this season, really, really good. Now we Seahawks fans just have to hope that there won’t be the frequently seen fallout of players leaving for more money elsewhere.
I was very happy with the outcome. I like Peyton Manning well enough, but am not a Denver fan, being a Kansas City-area resident, and had gotten sick of all the talk about how this win would make him the greatest quarterback ever, something I vehemently disagree with. So when the defense started out pounding the Broncos right away and then kept it up, I was thrilled. Part of me would have preferred a close game, but I’m okay with the ‘Hawks putting a thumping on Denver.

Deb, that BBQ sounds delicious! We’re going with the traditional pizza and wings.
If I were betting on the game, I’d take the points and the Seahawks, too, George. Like Jeff, I’ve been impressed with their defense.
Bill, great minds think alike. The warmer weather (40+ degrees) will favor Peyton. But, defense wins Super Bowls.
I’m sticking to my System: If my team loses, I double down on the next bet. So I have $100 on the Dallas Cowboys.
Dan, I remember the days when the Dallas Cowboys would regularly appear in the Super Bowl (and beat Buffalo).
Seahawks, of course, by 6.
Bob, this could be an Overtime Game.

Rick, those brownies sound yummy!

Jeff, Peyton looks lost in the Meadowlands in the First Half. Maybe things will tighten up in the Second Half.
So far, so good! 22-0, Seahawks. Yay!
Rick, few people would have predicted Peyton and the Broncos would be shut out in the First Half.
Looks like I was right about the Seahawks’ defense. As long as they can pressure Peyton good things will happen and they did.
Also, I was surprised but from the beginning it seemed like the crowd was overwhelmingly behind Seattle.
Jeff, the crowd definitely favored Seattle.
Please tell me I hallucinated that Bob Dylan commercial, with Bob looking like my grandmother on a bad perm day.
Deb, you were NOT hallucinating.
I know, Deb. It was like, “Is this happening or is it the hash?”
Well I can’t speak for the hash, but I had a few ribs and guacamole!
All over but the bragging. I don’t think anyone dreamed the game would be so lopsided, but I’m delirious with joy at the outcome. The Hawks had in going in every department and turned the hated Broncos into a bunch of Shetland ponies.
Bob, I hope you took my advice and bet the house!
“…had it going…”
Anyone heard how the Cowboys did?
Dan, the Cowboys are hibernating right now.
The “is it the hash” line was from Lily Tomlin’s THE SEARCH FOR INTELLIGENT LIFE IN THE UNIVERSE.
Jeff, I knew that. Plus, my students use that line all the time.
The Cowboys, ptiui!
I didn’t bet, George. I don’t know any bookies.
I heard that the Seattle faithful outnumbered the Bronco fans 2 to 1.

Carl, will this devastating loss in the Super Bowl extend Peyton’s career…or cut it short?
