Happy Thanksgiving too from old Europe!
This custom hasn’t found its way here (yet), we have St Martin’s Day when people slaughter a goose.
What they did import however was Black Friday and now it’s Black Week even – so they raise the prices in early November to be able to claim Minus 30% now!

Wolf, we’re spending time in NYC. Patrick and Katie put on a fabulous THANKSGIVING feast for us. We’ve seen THE ROOMMATE and we have two musicals to see on Broadway today. One more musical tomorrow!d
Happy Thanksgiving to all! For the first time since 2008, my siblings and I will all be together for Thanksgiving. My sister, her daughter, my brother, and my sister-in-law are flying in today; Julia’s boyfriend and his family will be joining us too. (Victoria had commemorative t-shirts made for everyone; we’ll wear them for pics.) John has been up all night smoking the ham in the big green egg and is about to put the turkey on. The twins and I have made a bounty of sides: mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, roasted fall vegetables, corn casserole, green bean casserole, mac & cheese, and dressing; plus, especially for my sister, Yorkshire pudding (which I usually only make for Christmas and Easter). I anticipate a “carb coma” coming on, lol. Julia’s boyfriend’s parents are bringing the desserts—“dirt cake” is one of the specialities, so I’m guessing we’ll be having that, plus the traditional pecan & pumpkin pies. It’s going to be a crazy busy morning getting everything ready, but I’m so excited about all of us sitting around the table this afternoon!
“Dirt cake, also called dirt and worms, is an American cake made from cookies and pudding in combination with other ingredients to create a dessert that has a resemblance to soil or earth. It is made by combining crushed Oreo cookies on top of vanilla or chocolate pudding, and adding gummy candy worms on top.[1][2][3] Variations include vanilla wafers, vanilla pudding,[4] whipped cream or Cool Whip, and cream cheese pudding in the recipe.[3]”
WIKI confirming my vague recollection, as a diabetic lacto/ovo veg (no gelatin), not one of my staples…
Dan
I’ll never forget Thanksgiving, 1981: My in-laws hosted us, and when everyone was seated, drinks poured, side-dishes set out, youngsters at the kiddie table and grace said, my wife’s aunt turned to me and said–seriously!–“Dan, do you know anything about cooking a frozen turkey in a microwave?”
No pumpkin pie! No stuffing! No corn! No jellied cranberry sauce! Colorful but missing some of my favorites! Have a fine feast!
Bob, hope you had a great THANKSGIVING!

Happy Thanksgiving, one and all.
I hope you and Diane have a safe and easy (well, as easy as air travel to New York on Thanksgiving Day can be) trip today.

What is dirt cake? Inquiring minds, etc.

Joyous Thanksgiving to all. We’re. having chicken instead of turkey, but otherwise the usual menu.
Happy T-Days, all!
Todd, hope you had a great THANKSGIVING! We did!
Subdued. Thanks, though, and glad yours was good fun.
Happy Thanksgiving to you, your family, and your friends!!
Scott, hope THANKSGIVING was as wonderful for you as it was for us!
