Iron Man 2 launches the Summer Movie season with plenty of action. Tony Stark finds that the palladium in the power source that keeps him alive is also poisoning him. Meanwhile, Stark’s enemy, Hammer, finds a renegade Russian physicist (played my Michael Rourke) who can duplicate the Iron Man armor to create an army of drones. Gwyneth Paltrow and Scarlett Johansson (as Black Widow) are eye candy. There’s nothing profound here, just mindless summer entertainment. GRADE: B+
Downey is always worth watching, even in less than worthwhile efforts, so I’m sure this is the same. We liked the original IRON MAN.
Downey is great in IRON MAN 2, Jeff. The cast is sronger and the special effects are more special than IRON MAN 1.
Just debating whether to see this one. George Gary Dobbs emailed to say he’d have a forgotten book on Friday. His blog is http://tainted-archive.blogspot.com/
I’ll add Dobbs to the list, Patti. If you go to IRON MAN 2 will low expectations, you’ll be delighted.
I liked the first one, but didn’t pay the movie house price, and I’ll wait for this one to pop up on Netflix also. Thanks for the review.
FFB – at this time I expect to have an entry, but it’s not read nor written.
I’m sure IRON MAN 2 will be on Blu-ray and regular DVD by September, Rick. I’ll be linking you on Friday.
I jsut read that this took in over $52 million the FIRST DAY!
IRON MAN 2 was on four screens at the Regal Diane and I went to, Jeff. The crowd was well-behaved and enthusiastic!
“If you go to IRON MAN 2 with low expectations, you’ll be delighted.”
One of the odder pieces of praise I’ve ever run across.
Sometimes, going in, people expect too much from a movie or book, Drongo. I try to keep my expectations low and find I’m frequently delighted.
A friend of mine mentioned that you need to watch all the way to the end of the credits with this one, just like the first one. I always do, anyway, and I’m glad some filmmakers have started adding little things there for us.
I plan to have Forgotten Books posts the next three weeks.
I’ll be sure to link to your blog, James! Glad to have you on-board for the next three weeks for FORGOTTEN BOOKS. Yes, we stayed through the credits of IRON MAN 2 to see 20 seconds of a teaser for the next MARVEL endeavor.
I’ll have one later today as well.

I’ll link you , Randy.
This movie will be fantastic! I collected Iron Man comic books during my childhood so the motion pictures bring back great memories.
I liked IRON MAN 2 a lot, Marlin. IRON MAN was my favorite Marvel superhero when I was reading comics as a kid.
