This hour-long documentary from 2007 shows what J. K. Rowling was up to during the run-up to the release of the last book of her series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. ABC is broadcasting this to take advantage of the opening of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It’s starts at 8 P.M. here, but check your local listings. I find J. K. Rowling’s rise from a welfare mother to a successful author richer than the Queen of England astonishing.
I agree, it is astonishing.
J. K. Rowling’s success story should inspire us all.
Quite astonishing – Harry Potter certainly caught the public imagination.
Rowling’s works got kids reading again. I admire her.
So how was it?
I find J. K. Rowling very engaging, Rick. This 2007 documentary captures the events leading up to the release of HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS. Plenty of back story about Rowling’s troubled youth and her depression. I found the program moving.
It was great! I really admire her for what she has done. My daughter is doing better with her reading since picking up her books. Keep up the great work Jo!
J. K. Rowling has done a great service to young people in motivating them to read, Jo. If they don’t get in the habit of reading early in life, I think the opportunity is lost.
