JON BATISTE CONCERT

Last night Diane and I drove over to the State University of New York at Buffalo’s Center for the Arts to hear multiple Grammy winner and former bandleader of The Stephen Colbert Show, Jon Batiste. The Center for the Arts was sold out and the performance delighted us.

Never heard of him but if he’s contemporary I’m sure I wouldn’t like his music! And stay off my lawn!

Bob, I think you should expand your musical experiences. There are plenty of great singers and groups that performed after the 1970s.

Bob, I’m glad you’re enjoying W.C. Tuttle westerns inside your shell. I’m reading the latest W. C. Tuttle from Steeger Books.

Never heard of him but I’ll have a look. There are some of my favourite songs there – like killing me softly …

Don’t know his (and it’s Jon, not John) work enough to call myself a fan, though I did watch and enjoy his documentary, AMERICAN SYMPHONY, which I believe you recommended last year. It’s largely about his marriage to Suleika Jaouad.

Should have mentioned that Killing Me Softly is one of my least favorite songs. It’s like nails on a blackboard to me.. Right up there with All By Myself, Having My Baby, Don’t Worry Be Happy, and Feelings.

Steve, I’m with you on “All By Myself,” “Having My Baby,” “Don’t Worry Be Happy”, and “Feelings.” I would add “Wildfire” and “Muskrat Love” and “I Am the Walrus.”
