The New Orleans Saints are 3-point favorites over the LA Rams. I’m with Deb and her family on this one: Saints! The Kansas City Chiefs are favored by 3 points over the New England Patriots. I’m going with the Chiefs. Who do you think will win today?
It’s black-and-gold fever everywhere you look down here! I’m rooting for the Saints (natch!), but it’s going to be a tough game—and the outcome will depend on how often Brees can get the ball. It’ll be a nail-biter for sure.
I think I’ll be able to enjoy the Patriots-Chiefs game a little more because it won’t be so nerve-wracking. I know the Chiefs are favored, but I’m going with the Patriots because I still think Brady has some gas left in the tank.
Geaux Saints!
Deb, I’m guessing both games will be low-scoring. No one wants to mess up the chance of going to the Super Bowl with a mistake so everyone will be playing cautiously.
I think the first game will be a lot more high scoring than the second – first, the Dome; second, the teams involved; third, the weather in Kansas City.
I am going totally with the teams I WANT to win, the Saints and Chiefs.
Jeff, we’ll see if the Home Field Advantage works today. I just snowblower my driveway (a foot of snow) and then the snowplow came down our street and dumped a couple feet of snow on the apron of my driveway. Fortunately, Big Orange handled it. But my fingers were freezing with the sub-zero windchills!
I’ve been pulling for the Rams and the Chiefs for most of the season and that will continue today, but I’ll be happy with 1-1. And I’d say KC has a better chance against NE than the Rams have against the Saints. With the way offense has taken over the NFL this season, it’s hard to believe that either game will be low scoring, but it could happen. I’m just happy to see the four best teams in the league vying for the Super Bowl slots.
Michael, I agree with you that the four best NFL teams made it to the Championship round of the Playoffs. I’m hoping for some exciting games today!
So George, how much snow do you have on the ground, and will it interfere with watching the games? We lucked out down here, as it never got below the mid-30s and we’ve had nothing but rain all night and morning. It is supposed to move out by noon, and the frigid temperatures should arrive by this evening. We may try and get out for a couple of hours in early afternoon. You need to get quite a way north of NYC to get any of the snow and ice, thankfully for us.
Jeff, most of the snow has fallen from this winter storm. We might get a few inches of Lake Effect snow throughout the day. But temperatures will be falling all day. Tomorrow, we’re supposed to wake up to windchills in the -20 range!
Wow, this lake effect snow is really something, hadn’t heard about it before!
Just got the creeps from reading this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake-effect_snow
Hope you don’t get too much of it …
Wolf, we’re suppose to be hit with a few inches of Lake Effect snow this evening. Then, we’re in a High Wind Advisory with all the snow on the ground getting whipped up by the winds. It will be brutal here tonight!
I think the Rams-Saints is a toss-up. I didn’t think the Saints looked very good last week, and they will have to be better to beat the Rams. I’m calling it Rams. I have doubts about a rookie quarterback, as good (and often lucky) as he’s been this season, at this point. I’ calling it for the veterans, the Patriots. Plus, Belachek (sp?) is the craftiest coach still in it. But we’ll see, turnovers and injuries will have a big role, as always.
Rick, I’m expecting two close games today. These teams are evenly matched.
Jeez—I hope the tone of the Saints game is not set by that godawful rendition of the National Anthem by Jimmy Buffett. Don’t get me wrong, he’s undoubtedly an icon—but not an icon with the range to pull off “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Deb, I felt the same way! Buffett’s rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” was painful to listen to.
George – I don’t have a dog in this fight, but I would like to see the Chiefs and Saints.
Elgin, I’m with you all the way on those picks!
Why the heck didn’t they call pass interference???
Deb, my sister says, “The Fix was in.”
Clearly P.I.
And there’s the end of the Saints season. Alas!
Deb, the Saints will be even better next year!
To quote The Ghost and Mr. Chicken: “The horribleness and the awfulness of it is something that will probably never be forgotten.”
