Mad Men finishes its most surprising season tonight and Copper returns for its second season. I’m a big fan of both shows. Mad Men has managed to astonish me weekly this season. I can’t believe next season will be the last for Mad Men. Copper left some significant plotlines hanging at the end of Season One. I’ll be glad to watch what happens tonight. Check out the trailer below:
If I ever watch Mad Men, I’ll have to start with the first season (same with Downton Abbey), so no, I won’t be watching. COPPER looks interesting, but again, I’m a season behind so no, not trying to pick it up late either.
Rick, COPPER Season One is available in most public libraries. It’s only 12 episodes so you could get caught up quickly. It’s a series that’s worth watching. MAD MEN will go down in TV history as one of the great series ever.
In our local paper today, it said MAD MEN had been uneven this year. I said, huh?. To me, it was the best year yet because it was so surprising. I will miss it after tonight and even more after next year. I think it is the most creative drama ever. And that’s saying something with shows like THE WIRE, BREAKING BAD, THE SOPRANOS to compete with. They all had crime to lean on. MAD MEN had to create plots more closely resembling real life. And yet is surreal quality was one of its strengths.
Patti, I totally agree with your analysis of MAD MEN. This season had the most OMG jaw-dropping moments ever!
I tried COPPER last year but …for whatever reason it just wasn’t for me. I’m interested in the period but not those people
Jeff, it took me three or four episodes to really get into COPPER, but once I did I really enjoyed the series.
I like COPPER…and I like (don’t love) MAD MEN. MM remains the most overrated drama since THE WEST WING (and not as overrated as that one), but I haven’t been particularly floored by the revelations…certainly almost everything about the Campbell family seems to have been telegraphed, to me. Nice touches, good moments, but still not carrying the weight it’s credited with. Peggy and her boss has been handled particularly schematically, I’d suggest.
