Rick Robinson and Marcia (at http://printedpage.us/2010/05/16/mailbox-monday-may-17th/) came up with the idea of listing, on every Monday, the week’s acquisitions for others to see. Since I buy way too many books, this Mailbox Monday feature might be short-lived on this blog. Last week I was at a library sale and here’s a sample of what I bought:
Excellent! I love the Dell mapback. And the CROME CRIME COMPANION sounds interesting. Have you read it yet?
I think the only books I got last week were regular borrowed library books, though Jackie got in 4-5 romantic suspense/paranormal titles from PaperbackSwap.com.
I picked up about 30 books at the library sale, Jeff. Too many to list. I figured I’d just show a few. CROWN CRIME COMPANION is on the Read Real Soon stack.
I agree about the Dell book. An excellent cover that grabs your attention.
DELL Mapbacks don’t show up at library sales around here very often, Drongo. I was glad to scoop it up before someone else did!
The quarterly Friends of the Library books sale at our local library is responsible for about 3/4 of my tbr pile. I pledged not to attend another one until I get the pile (well, mountain) under control!
The sad fact of most of our library sales is that the unsold books go to a landfill, Deb. So I feel responsible to rescue as many books as I can from such a terrible fate!
I haven’t bought a book in weeks, but I still have more than enough on hand.
This is the beginning of the library book sale season, Bob. Around here, there’s a book sale almost every week from now to September!
I didn’t know there was a season. Here, the library has a small shop that’s open Mon-Sat, all year round.
Since the library budgets have been slashed in Western New York, the public libraries are trying to raise some funds by running a big book sale during the late Spring and early Summer, Rick. Once things get dire, it will be happening in your neighborhood, too.
