Minari is the story of a Korean-American family who decides to move from California to a tiny Arkansas farm, The father, played by STEVEN YEUN, is obsessed with making the farm work and become successful. The family dynamic changes completely when their sly, foul-mouthed, but incredibly loving grandmother comes from Korea to live with them.
Much of the success of Minari rests on the excellent cast especially the incredible performance of 6-year-old of Alan S. Kim. Kim plays David, a little boy with a lot of problems. Kim manages to capture the happiness, fear, and sadness of a small boy in a strange land. Lee Isaac Chung does a masterful job directing his talented cast through the script he wrote.
With attacks on Asians in the U.S. on the rise, Minari shows the plight of immigrants in trying to secure the American Dream. GRADE: B+
You are pretty much spot on. I kept thinking that I had seen Steven Yuen before but couldn’t place him. Turns out he was a regular on The Walking Dead.
Yuen played Glenn on The Walking Dead for several years until he was finally killed off.
We’re looking forward to seeing this.
Jeff, MINARI is being shown in theaters, but we decided to go the AMAZON PRIME Video route. You and Jackie will like it.
Steve, I recognized Steven Yeun from THE WALKING DEAD, too. Now he’s nominated for an Oscar!
From what I can tell this is a $19.99 rental, not “included with Prime”.
Michael, you are correct. But with the Stimulus Check and Tax Refunds, we have money to burn! And, MINARI is worth it.
The best of the nominated movies I have seen. It subverts your expectations time and again. And this is priceless at the Critics Choice Awards.

Patti, as good as NOMADLAND is, I’ll vote for MINARI.
this looks good, and the pix of the little boy is priceless. Just from that pix, I can see him stealing the movie
Maggie, I was amazed that a 6-year-old could carry off the role that he had in MINARI. The whole cast was excellent!
