Miss Fisher’s stumbles into a series of murders while on vacation. The chalet fills with corpses while the murderer uses “The 12 Days of Christmas” to sequence the victims in order of the lyric.
The motive behind the murders keeps Miss Fisher off-balance until she cracks the mystery with roots in the Past. If you’re a fan of Miss Fisher, you’ll enjoy this entertaining Christmas confection. GRADE: B+
Hadn’t heard about this series before – but have to confess (pun intended …) that I’m not a fan of this kind of stories.
The description on wiki reminds me obviously of “And then there were none” – an old concept.
Wolf, our PBS station broadcast the Miss Fisher series. I find them fun to watch.
I’m not a fan (too arch and anachronistic), but the twins love the Miss Fisher Mysteries.
Deb, I’m with the twins on Miss Fisher. Fun and a little bit silly. Perfect for a pandemic!
Not for me, but I’m curious. What’s a Pop-Up DVD?
Michael, the packaging opens up into a 3-D scene like those expensive greeting cards. Very cool.
What expense greeting cards? I have no idea what you’re talking about.
Rick, check this out: https://www.lovepopcards.com/products/japanese-maple-pop-up-card?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7pac0tfi7QIVC52zCh3mYwqwEAYYASABEgJhHvD_BwE
I’m not…a fan of Miss Fisher. We find it as Deb said. Tried to watch the “modern” update with her niece because it starred Geraldine Hakewell, who we loved as Chelsea in the Aussie series WANTED, but if anything it was worse than the original. We don’t like most of these period pieces.
Maggie Mason is a huge Miss Fisher fan.
Jeff, I’m with Maggie on Miss Fisher. I haven’t seen the “new” Ms. Fisher series, but I have read a lot of mediocre reviews of the series.
Yes, what is a popup DVD.
Patti, I’m sure you’ve seen those greeting cards that open up to reveal a 3-D flower or bird or Santa. Same idea.
Never saw such a thing.
I am a big fan of both the books and the TV series. I went to the Palm Springs film festival last Jan. to see the movie, and am contemplating going to the Miss Fisher convention in Richmond VA if it’s safe to travel. I got that DVD and it was good, but shorter than I expected.
One of the things I LOVE about this series is her wardrobe. Vintage clothing at it’s best.
Maggie, Diane is impressed by Miss Fisher’s outfits, too! I suspect travel will increase when enough people get the Covid-19 vaccine. I’m guessing the vaccine will be available to us by March.
I’m still quite ill, so no posting on my blog, or many comments. Almost 4 days now, plus lots of bad news and things going wrong (car battery, microwave, worst, my brother is in hospital with Covid). Very depressing.
Holiday wishes to all.
Rick, I think you should get that Voodoo curse lifted! Hope your brother recovers quickly.
I tried watching this, or something like it, and couldn’t understand a word they said!
Sorry to hear about your woes, Rick.
Bob, I always watch TV (especially if the program comes from Britain or Australia) with CLOSED CAPTIONS on.
I sometimes use closed captions for Brit and Aussie shows but hate things mentions like loud music playing, dog barking, door slamming.
I did that and just finally kept closed captioning on all the time
Maggie, the sound is so bad on most TV programs (and some movies) that I would miss half the dialogue if I didn’t have CLOSED CAPTIONS on. Happy Holidays!
Unlikely, he’ lives in a nursing home, in the memory care unit, and has both Covid and pneumonia.
Sorry to hear that, good luck and best wishes.
Thanks, Bob.
Much better luck, Rick, and the best possible outcome for your brother.
I’ve enjoyed MISS FISHER. Catch it haphazardly on broadcast and cable stations, and some streaming, over the years.
Todd, our PBS station seems to broadcast MISS FISHER episodes around Fund Raising Time.
