MISSION IMPOSSIBLE–FALLOUT

Action, action, and more action. That’s the strategy behind Mission Impossible–Fallout written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie. Tom Cruise plays Ethan Hunt, head of the Impossible Missions team. His sidekicks, Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg, provide technical assistance and banter. The Impossible Missions Force faces a nuclear threat by terrorists led by Solomon Lane (Sean Harris), a former MI6 agent gone rogue. The plot races from Paris to London to Kashmir. In each location, there’s an eye-popping or jaw-dropping ballet of violence and serious stunt work. Tom Cruise was injured during the incredible helicopter sequence and his face shows it on the screen. No CGI stuff during these wild chases and perilous acts of cinematic physicality! The Real Deal up on the screen crackles with authenticity. Don’t miss this one! GRADE: A

Have to agree. I’m not a Tom Cruise fan but I enjoyed this movie a lot. A action movie that delivers on the action. Never looked at my watch once. Highly recommend it.

Steve, I went in wondering if MISSION IMPOSSIBLE–FALLOUT could sustain the suspense for 2 hours and 28 minutes…but it did!

Jeff, you and Cap’n Bob might not buy tickets to MISSION IMPOSSIBLE–FALLOUT, but I’m guessing it will be the Box Office Champ this weekend…and maybe a couple more.

Wolf, all the Tom Cruise MISSION IMPOSSIBLE movies have been thrill rides. But, somehow, the stunts increase in level of difficulty with each movie. The helicopter sequence in MISSION IMPOSSIBLE–FALLOUT is eye-popping!

How is it possible that someone I dislike as much as Tom Cruise has been in so many terrific movies? Gaze upon his filmography, haters, and despair. It’s hard to say exactly how it happens, but an actor doesn’t appear in that many great movies by accident.

Michael, I try to separate out the actor’s personality from the performance on the screen. But, you’re right: Tom Cruise is reviled by many.

I was going to say that the key – indeed the only – factor is, how much money did it make?
