I fell in love with Lucy Lawless when she showed up on my TV in Xena: Warrior Princes. Now she plays PI Alexa Crowe, former detective of the Victoria Police Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) in My Life is Murder.
The fourth season consists of 8 episodes. If you’re in the mood for a “cozy” style of mystery, give My Life is Murder a try. I’ve only watched one episode so…GRADE: Incomplete but trend towards a B.
I’ve watched about a season’s-worth, spottily. Not bad, if not compelling. Rather as with XENA, with less attempt at satirical saga.
Todd, the paucity of good mystery TV shows led me to MY LIFE IS MURDER. Mildly entertaining…
And good luck with blood work today, and kicking out any long C19!
Todd, I’m about to drive over to Quest Diagnostics for my blood draw. Next week, my doctor and I will go over the results during my Yearly Physical.
At one point, they moved the series from Australia to New Zealand. The scenery is one of the main assets. Lawless is another, but I came to dislike her “assistant” as time went on, and we finally gave up on this due to weak plots and uninteresting characters.
But I know some people do like it, so YMMV.
Jeff, the early reviews of Season Four of MY LIFE IS MURDER have been positive.
No Acorn so no MLIM.
Patti, we don’t have Acorn but we do have BBC America.
Same. Though I used to work closely with Acorn when they were most active in the US as a syndicator to PBS and Indy public stations.
Todd, I’ve noticed overlap between BBC America and Acorn.
After the big layoff at TV GUIDE that snagged me, I noted Acorn was also leasing time on one of the commercial cable channels, though it slips my mind which. BBC America and Acorn naturally draw from the same well!
Todd, with over 500 channels on our current Spectrum cable system, we get a lot of “oddball” programs.
I couldn’t take Xena! That Valley Girl dialogue in a fantasy setting turned me off completely! I don’t get this channel so I won’t be seeing it!
Bob, I appreciated XENA as a visual experience. When it comes to action TV, I prefer less dialogue.
