NEW YORK GIANTS VS. BUFFALO BILLS [NBC]

Despite the disastrous trip to London to lose to the Jacksonville Jaguars 25-20, the Buffalo Bills found themselves 14-point favorites over the NY Giants at the beginning of the week. By Wednesday, the Giants revealed that their Quarterback, Daniel Jones, could not practice because of a neck injury. Former Bills QB, Tyron Taylor, will be running the Giants’ offensive tonight. As soon as that news broke, the Vegas betting line shot up to 17-points.

However, the weather in Orchard Park is predicted to be cold and rainy for Sunday Night Football. The weather conditions could cause havoc for both teams. How will your favorite team perform today?

God help us. As if this season hasn’t been a disaster enough already, now they have to travel to Buffalo on Sunday night – no Daniel Jones, their awful offensive line further decimated. 17 points sounds about right. The giants might win a couple more games this year (or not), but I can almost guarantee that tonight won’t be one of them. I will check in occasionally for the score, but won’t subject myself to watch.

Jeff, after the debacle in London, the Bills need a win badly to get back on the Playoff track. I feel sorry for the Giants. They’re decimated by injures. And, I think Daniel Jones is NOT the answer at QB.

The Ravens are in London, starting in a few minutes. My memory said they have never played well in London, but when I looked it up, they’ve only played there once before. They did get trounced, though.

Jeff, the trip to London messed up the Bills who should have played better against the Jaguars. Hope the Ravens perform better than the Bills did.

After a decisive shut-out win against the Patriots last week, the 3-2 Saints travel to Houston to take on the 2-3 Texans. Hopefully, the adrenaline of last Sunday’s victory will carry them through. Meanwhile, I’m waiting for a different Lone Star State matchup: the Houston Astros versus the Texas Rangers later today in the first game of the American League Championship series.

Deb, baseball purists are complaining about the “top teams” getting eliminated in these Playoff matches. I’m guessing MLB will be “adjusting” the Playoff structure next year. I watched bit of the Saints vs. Patriots game last week. Total domination by the Saints. I think the Belichick era in New England is coming to an end.

You may be right about MLB tweaking the playoff structure. John shared the following statistic: this year, the five baseball teams that ended the regular season with the top five best records went 1-12 in the playoffs and have all been eliminated from the League Championship series (and, thus, eliminated from the chance of playing in the World Series).

Deb, John’s statistic of 1-12 for the leading teams points to the problem the MLB brain trust will have to solve: what does the Regular Season mean when the “best” teams are eliminated early in the Playoffs?

My Niners, showered with bouquets after their routing Dallas last week, are only a TD up after 1st quarter on my once hometown heroes, the Browns (last won a championship when I was in High School), so it might not be a walkover after all. Now up 10-0, not yet a rout, but looking reasonably positive. Still, I’ll remain nervous until Purdy, intact, gets pulled with a big lead.

Only consolation was that Philly was also upset, meaning 49ers still share best season record to date. Right now the Bills are looking as sluggish as Niners did. What the hell??

Art, I’m convinced the Bills are still dealing with Jet Lag from the ridiculous trip to London. They didn’t even start to play until the Second Half against the Giants.

The Seabirds stunk! Three times they were in the red zone–twice inside the five–and they got three points out of it! I’m glad the 49ers lost, anyway!
