NFL CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYOFFS: CINCINNATI BENGALS (CBS) VS. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS and SAN FRANCISCO 49ers VS. LA RAMS (FOX)

We’re down to the NFL’s Final Four teams. Buffalo Bills fans, still in Recovery mode after the Bills lost 42-36 last week, find the generous Kansas City Chief fans have donated over $400,000 to Bills QB Josh Allen’s fund at Oishei Children’s Hospital, just a few blocks away from where I worked. Very nice…and very needed.

Joe Burrow’s impressive performance defeating the Number One ranked team, the Tennessee Titans, makes one wonder: Can Burrow beat Mahomes? Actually, Burrow did beat Mahomes in Week 17, 34-31. The Chiefs are favored by 7 points. I would take the Bengals and the points.

The Niners and the Ram meet for the third time. The Rams are favored by 3 1/2 points. Art Scott, life-long 49ers fan, will be on edge of his seat for this one. Go Niners!

Who do you think will win these games and go to the Super Bowl?

I don’t know and neither does anyone else, but we can hope! I hope the Chiefs and Rams win, and the Chiefs win the Superbowl! Sorry, Art, but the Kaepernick fiasco ruined my liking of the 49ers, which I once supported!

Sadly, I think you’d have to go with the Chiefs to win. But even so, the Bengals always keep it close even when they end up losing, so 7 points is a steep hill to climb against Burrow, so take Cincinnati. As for the others, the Rams are clearly the better team but the Niners seem to have their number in recent years. I think the Rams have a little extra incentive (to be the first team to play the Super Bowl at home).

Yeah, I slept through that one, Deb. Good catch. Let’s hope this year’s game is more competitive.

Jeff, now Giants fans are donating money to Josh Allen’s charity for Brian Daboll signing on as the new NY Giants Head Coach!

Jeff, Tom Brady and the Buccaneers hosted last year’s Super Bowl in Tampa…and won! I’m sure the Rams are hoping for the same outcome.

I’d like to see KC and LA in the Super Bowl, and I think that’s probably going to happen. It’s difficult to become a big fan of teams that are only rarely shown in your market, which is the case with SF and Cincy. I’d guess I’ve seen Joe Burrow playing for LSU more than I’ve seen him playing for Cincinnati.

Michael, whether Joe Burrow played in a LSU game or a Bengal game, I’ve been impressed with his QB skills. The Chiefs better have a better plan to control Burrow than the Titans did.

In our LSU-centric home (two of our kids each have two degrees from LSU, one now works for LSU and the other has applied to return to LSU’s Grad School in the fall), Joe “Burreaux” can do no wrong and we’re behind the Bengals all the way. However, as the Chiefs showed us last week, Mahomes is a formidable opponent and clock management is key to a victory. My brain says Chiefs, but my heart says Bengals.

I’m not as invested in the outcome of Rams-49ers, but given that Art Scott’s appreciation for spicy food exceeds even my own, I’m going with the 49ers!

George, did you ever go to dinner with Hal Rice, Jr? That man loves him some spice. I never saw him actually do it, but I believe him when he said he sometimes went into a restaurant’s kitchen to season his food himself.

Jeff, I’ve been to dinner with Hal Rice, but not Junior. I know a few people like Art Scott who thrives on super spicy food.

I’ll first mention that the strongest division in the NFL, the NFC West, had 3 teams in the playoffs. Three. Now, with just two games to play before the Super Bowl, two are still playing. They’re both Seahawks rivals, of course, but they’re good. I’ll be pulling for the Niners, but think the Rams are the stronger team. Let’s hope the officials don’t decide, or ruin, the game.

In the other game, I’m for Chiefs all the way. I believe they have the best Head Coach-quarterback combo in the game.

The Josh Allen charity stuff is nuts. They could send the dough to my charity instead, the Help Rick Buy More Books charity. In other news, we’re making a huge pot of vegetable beef soup to enjoy during the game, with hot garlic bread.

Rick, Josh Allan’s charity, Oishei Children’s Hospital in downtown Buffalo, treats all children who enter their facility. Over 50% of the children in Buffalo live below the poverty line, most have no health insurance, and suffer from urban diseases like lead poisoning. Donations help keep Oishei Children’s Hospital viable and help pay the expenses of children who are penniless.

Not life-long, George. Browns fan first, in the pre-Superbowl era. As I write this the unlikely Bengals have defeated KC, so 2 underdogs would seem a sucker bet, but the Niners have surprised me and most everybody through the playoffs, so maybe they’ve got one more in them . . . if Garoppolo can manage to throw the balls to his own teammates.

We’ll see! Apparently, they played each other in the Super Bowl in 1988. By the way, my favorite part of watching the games today has been the Chevy truck commercials featuring Walter the cat. Better than a Super Bowl commercial!

It’s all over but the screeching, now! I’m happy with the results! While I leaned towards the Chiefs I also like the Bengals and am satisfied with their win! I also hope they win the Superbowl!

I was rooting for the chiefs, but not mad at the Bengals finally getting a shot.

I wanted the Rams to win, if only to prove they are LA’s team (not the chargers/ aka Judas’s. la lodgers) I also want Eric Weddle to get another shot at a ring.

Maggie, I don’t know anyone who thought the Bengals were going to the Super Bowl. The Rams have mortgaged their Future–and draft picks–on winning NOW!
