NFL WEEK ONE!

When the Mighty Detroit Lions shocked the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs a few nights ago, that signaled that this NFL season would feature plenty of surprises.

The NFL season swings into full action today with a complete slate of games. The Bills play the Jets on Monday Night Football so I’ll just be watching the action around the League. How will your favorite NFL team do today?

Good question. The Giants host the hated Cowboys tonight. Somehow, even when they play well, the Cowboys usually manage to pull it out in the end. But I’m hoping this time will be different. The Giants have a very tough schedule this year and they want to get off to a good start, especially against a hated division rival.

    Keep your fingers crossed!

The Meadowlands will be hopping with this game tonight and the Jets-Bills tomorrow night.

Jeff, we’ll be rooting for former Bills Offensive Coordinator–now Head Coach–Brian Daboll and the Giants tonight. And, of course, the Bills tomorrow night!

As usual, I feel that it’s too soon for football season to be starting because we’re just getting to the most interesting part of baseball season as teams truly begin to vie for post-season spots. Alas, the NFL doesn’t take my wishes into account when planning their schedules, so today the Titans journey to the Big Easy to take on the Boys in Black and Gold at the Super Dome. While I know the Who Dat Nation will be out in full force for this first game of the season, I truly won’t be invested until after the World Series.

Deb, as I alway say: It’s all about the money! Early start to the season, 17 games, the prospect of many player injuries, etc. I’ll be rooting for the Saints.

Deb is right–there is way too much going on this time of year, and that’s not even taking college football into account. After watching football pretty much all day Saturday it’s pretty difficult to get through a whole Sunday of the NFL. There seems to be little or no interest in either baseball or college football on this blog, at least in comparison to NFL mania, but it would be really shocking if there were an NFL game today as ridiculously entertaining as yesterday’s Texas/Alabama game.

We just don’t hear enough about the Hartford Blues, the Toledo Maroons nor the Boston Yanks these days. So I guess I’ll root for the Orlando Anarchy. Oh, wrong league…but their active!

It’s not just football. I was watching a little of the Yankees game against Milwaukee this afternoon, and I swear, in the middle of an inning they were offering you an opportunity to bet on what was going to happen.

    WTF?
