NFL WILD CARD WEEKEND, PART TWO: Philadelphia Eagles vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers vs. Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Kansas City Chiefs, Arizona Cardinals vs. LA Rams

The Philadelphia Eagles rested their starters last Sunday so we’ll see if that strategy works against Tom Brady and the Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Kick off is at 1 P.M on FOX. Tampa Bay is favorited by 9 1/2 points. I think the Eagles are toast.

The San Francisco 49ers are a mere 3-point underdog to the mighty Dallas Cowboys so something is up in this 4:30 P.M. game on CBS. The Cowboys should win…but I’m going with the Niners.

On paper, the Steelers vs. Chiefs looks like a laugher. The Chiefs are favored by 12 1/2 points! The game kicks off at 8:30 P.M. on NBC. Could this game be over by Half-time? It looks that way to me!

The NFL constantly experiments with the Playoff format to maximize the audience for its games. This year, there’s a Monday Night Football Playoff game on ABC/ESPN at 8:15 P.M. between the Arizona Cardinals and the LA Rams. The Rams are favored by 4-points but the Cardinals can be dangerous with phenom Kyler Murray. I’d be tempted to take the Cards and the points.

Who do you think will win these games?

The Bills were impressive in crushing the Patriots last night in what looked like frigid conditions. The Bengals almost blew it but held on to win.

Like you, I think the Buccaneers and Chiefs will win in a walkover today. I intensely dislike the Cowboys, so I hope the Niners can pull out a win.

Jeff, Art Scott called me when the Pats vs. Bills game was becoming a rout. Art’s a bit worried about what will happen to the 49ers in Dallas today. If the KC Chiefs win–they’re favored over the Steelers by 12 1/2 points–the Bills will be headed to Kansas City next weekend.

Deb, WORDPRESS’s spellcheck is the bane of my existence on the blog! It routinely commits “49-era” instead of “49ers” mistakes all the time. It never asks me if I want its correction, it just changes whatever I’ve written! Argggggh!

Deb, I’ll be moving furniture and getting three bedrooms ready for the painter who’s going to arrive Tuesday morning. Not much time for TV watching today. We’re supposed to get 18 inches of snow tomorrow so I’ll be firing up Big Orange and snowblowing all that snow away!

Jackie said to tell you she is stimulating the economy too. She ordered new bedroom furniture from Macy’s to be delivered in April after we get home.

        Up next: the living room.

Jeff, tell Jackie she’s doing the Right Thing by buying stuff right now instead of waiting. Inflation will be a problem for the rest of the year. If you don’t buy today, you’ll pay more tomorrow for the same thing.

George, I’m sure you Bills fans enjoyed every minute of last night’s blowout, but I was gone well before halftime. The early game was sort of interesting, as it was helped along by some weird officiating. I’ll pick the three favorites today but hope Dallas loses in what might be the only interesting game of the day. If the KC/Pitt game is boring I’ll let HBO/MAX lure me away with THE LAST DUEL.

Michael, 70,000 Bills fans at Highmark Stadium were dancing in the stands as the Bills beat the Patriots 47-17. The cold may have drained some of the energy out of the Patriots because they looked lifeless for much of the game. I’m looking forward to a Cardinal win over the Rams tomorrow night so I may be up late.

47-17! The Bills really piled it on! I’m surprised, were the Pats without defense, or did Allen have the game of his life?

Won’t be watching NFL, have things to do, and reading, etc.

Whatever commentators you daw during the week who predicted that Tampa Bay would have trouble with the Eagles should have their crystal balls revoked.

Jeff, I’m convinced “experts” hype teams like the Eagles (or minimize teams like the Buccaneers) to manipulate the point spread in these games. I refuse to bet online and despise the constant commercials for Fanduel, Caesar’s, Draft Kings phone apps. You just know gambling addiction will be out of control in 2022!

The mood was gloomy last night to say the least in this Patriots household. My consolation was that I knew George would be happy! I’m rooting for Dallas, although it’s not looking so good right now.

The Eagles quarterback couldn’t pass the salt much less a football! What a terrible display!

I don’t like the Cowpies or the 49ers. I used to love S.F. until that kneeling bozo came along and the team’s owner didn’t do anything!

I’m rooting for the Chiefs this afternoon!
