Tomorrow night, Nikita returns for its third season. Maggie Q plays the feisty assassin perfectly. I like the supporting cast, especially Melinda Clarke as the sexy but deadly Amanda. Since 24 was canceled, there really isn’t much in the action-adventure genre worth watching on TV other than Nikita. Nikita has improved over the past two seasons with better scripts and production values. I’m hoping Season Three, which starts Friday night at 9 P.M. in my area (check your local listings for the time in your area), is Nikita’s breakthrough year when the audience really grows. Check it out.
I haven’t seen the show but like Maggie Q a lot. I should try to track down the first couple of seasons and check it out.
NIKITA improve each season, Carl. The first season was pretty sketchy, but watchable. Season Two had better writing and better settings. I’m sure you could jump right into Season Three.
Probably gave up on this one too fast–after the first episode. Maybe on DVR.
NITIKA is an action-adventure program, Patti. No deep philosophical insights, just lots of shooting and explosions.
That top photo certainly makes her look gorgeous. I haven’t watched this, but then I watch so little TV any more.
Maggie Q is a beautiful woman, Rick. And a pretty good action hero, too!
STRIKE BACK (on Cinemax) isn’t too shabby, or wasn’t, in its first US season, and the new one, HUNTED, looks like it could be better; likewise, XIII on the Reelz channel is pretty good for this kind of thing. There aren’t Too many other explosion series on broadcast these days, though LEVERAGE, BURN NOTICE and such are doing variations on MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE…
And there is MI-5 (as we import SPOOKS, because of the even more unfortunate other connotation “spooks” has here), syndicated to public broadcasting, much as that other MI imitation HUSTLE is (and HUSTLE pops up elsewhere, too, such as on AXS TV, the former HDNet).
But, yeah, unless REVOLUTION does this, not too many other hugger-mugger series right now.
NIKITA is nice and frothy, Todd. Last night Nikita’s lover beats up a policeman in order to retrieve the engagement ring he intends to put on Nikita’s finger. Love and violence…
