NOW THAT WHAT I CALL MOVIES

NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL MOVIES
I bought this CD because I thought I was getting a lot of value for my money. I like most of the songs and although I own a lot of them (on other CDs) it’s nice to have all 18 songs on one CD. The price was right, too: $9.99. My only quibble is that I wish Madonna’s “Live to Tell” had been included. GRADE: A

Some good stuff-God Only Knows, Streets of Philadelphia, Tiny Dancer, Brown Eyed Girl. But a lot of terrible stuff-Celine Dion, Survivor, Mike Reno, Kenny Loggins.
And if I have to hear Happy one more time.

George, “Almost Paradise” from Footloose is one of my favourite songs and I listen to it to this day and then, of course, the BeeGees whom I grew up listening to. “Saturday Night Fever” made them famous in India.

Looks like a pretty good selection–but, as you said, I already have all the ones I like on various other CDs. I’m such a Luddite, I don’t have an iPod! I write down the songs I like, buy an iTunes gift card, give the list and card to one of my kids who will then download the songs and burn them to a CD for me. I’ve got some very strange juxtapositions of songs on those CDs, I can tell you!

Deb, you and I are Luddites when it comes to music! I actually buy music CDs. My kids think this is so old-fashioned! I don’t have an iPod, either. There’s nothing wrong with playing a CD while I’m driving around in my opinion. I don’t need PANDORA or any of the other music sites. I have thousands of CDs and a disturbing number of them haven’t been listened to yet.

The Queen song is a deal breaker for me, I dislike it intensely. Also, some of the songs are covers, not by the original artist, also a deal breaker. I’ll spend my $10 on a pizza (on special).

A pretty good group. I just listen to songs on you tube when I want to hear them now. We don’t seem to listen to CDs much any more. Not sure why.

Patti, I listen to most of my music while driving around. You’re right: not many people actually sit down and listen to an album anymore.

I had an early generation iPod but it died and I never replaced it. We buy CDs too. Since most so-called oldies stations dropped the 50s and even the 60s from their format (stay off my lawn, whippersnappers) there is little left for us on radio currently. Nothing brings that home more than a drive from NY to Florida. There are so few stations left we can listen to.

We had Sirius in a car we rented on Arizona last year and Jackie liked it enough that she wants to get it in our next car, whenever that is. For now we’ll stick to our hundreds of CDs.

Jeff, we got Sirius/XM Radio with both of our new vehicles. After six months, they wanted a fortune to re-up. I negotiated with them and they settled for $4 a month for the next year. I mostly listen to WATERCOLORS, the Sooth Jazz station.

And speaking of pizza, we had it for lunch today.

We may not have an iPod but Jackie bought a Bose Wave system a couple of years ago ago.

I listen to CDs often, almost every day, in the house, either on the CD player or on the desktop computer (through Bose speakers). We also have three iPods, and I may buy another before they go away, as I think Apple may stop making them in the next year or so. They are very handy, can be used walking, in the car though the hook-up there, in house, anywhere at all. Jeff, you ought to get another.

Don’t understand Bob’s comment at all.

Sound quality goes from CD quality down to Mp3 quality down to U-Tube quality down to amplified through a grapefruit. Those last two are pretty close. Plus on U-Tube you have to put up with the annoying video. Bah.
