Only Murders in the Building, Season 4 begins tonight on HULU. Diane and I have enjoyed the first three seasons. For those of you new to this TV season, three residents who are obsessed with solving crimes work together when they’re faced with real murders in the New York City building they live in, The Arconia. Now the Arconia’s silly murder-solving trio is back with more crimes to solve.
Season 4 starts with an episode where Mabel (Selena Gomez), Charles (Steve Martin), and Oliver (Martin Short) are heading to Los Angeles. A Hollywood studio is making plans to turn their podcast into a film, while dealing with the shocking murder of Charles’ stunt double and friend Sazz Patak (Jane Lynch), who was murdered in the last episode of Season 3. Can’t wait to see all 10 episodes of this new season!
Are you a fan of Only Murders in the Building?
I watched the first few episodes of the first season. Martin Short was terrific, and Steve Martin was serviceable, but Selena Gomez seemed to have wandered in from another universe. John continued to watch the show (all three seasons) and enjoyed it—but it never did much for me.
Deb, I find ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING mildly entertaining. There’s not that much to watch at this time of the Summer so this will have to do.
Meh. What Deb said. I also felt Selena Gomez, otherwise fine, wandered in from a different world, and series. But we no longer have Hulu, so that isn’t an issue.
Jeff, I’m guessing Selena Gomez was included in ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING to attract a “younger audience demographic.”
I got rid of HULU too. Mildly entertaining is a perfect description. Yet it always feels like it could be more with better writing.
True. Good cast, great setting, but the writing? Not so great.
Jeff, I’m always suspicious when one of the actors and/or producers is a writer on a film.
Most television series involve producer/writers, though, George…they are usually authors of the series “bible”, at very least.
Patti, one of the problems with ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING is that Steve Martin is one of the writers…as well as being a producer and actor in the series.
