The Polity is a future civilization run by artificial intelligences. But when the Polity meets an aggressive alien race of massive, crablike carnivores known as the Prador, war ensues. This is Space Opera with plenty of action and a high body count. If you haven’t sampled Neal Asher’s Polity series, this is your best entry point. Then, if you’re like me, you’ll want to read them all:
1. Prador Moon
2. The Shadow of the Scorpion
3. Gridlinked
4. The Line of Polity
5. Brass Man
6. Polity Agent
7. Line War
8. The Skinner
9. The Voyage of the Sable Keech
10. Orbus
11. Hilldiggers
This isn’t an author with whom I’m familiar, though the title of this one sounds familiar to me. Perhaps I saw it on a list, or reviewed, or? Did it win any awards, George?
Neil Asher’s work is being published by TOR and Night Shade Books, Rick. No awards so far, but if you like Space Opera, you’ll like these fast-paced action SF novels. Perfect escapism.
BTW, George, I’ve been invited to join the Friday Forgotten Books group, and have sent Patti a couple for starters. Look for them on her site whenever they pop up. So far mysteries, but you know I’ll slip in some science fiction and other stuff in time.
Glad to see you join Patti’s FORGOTTEN BOOKS entourage, Rick!
Ah, Night Shade. I undoubtedly saw it listed in their catalog. Thanks.
Night Shade Books is publishing two of the better British SF novelists, Rick. Liz Williams and Neal Asher.
