STAR TREK: PRODIGY [Netflix]

Season Two of Star Trek: Prodigy moves from Paramount+ to Netflix, but the animated series of 20 episodes still feature a group of young aliens who join Admiral Kathryn Janeway (voiced by Kate Mulgrew) to find the original crew of the USS Protostar. Yes, Star Trek: Prodigy is aimed at a younger audience, but it appeals to my 12-year-old self that enjoys these Star Trek series. Are you a Star Trek fan? GRADE: Incomplete but trending towards a B.

Would you moderate the comment I left on the last post, please? I know you’re suffering from COVID-19 and maybe overlooked it in your distress, but the world is waiting! As for ST, I loved the original series–although it wasn’t until it was in reruns in 1970 that I watched it–but the rest of them didn’t excite me! I can’t imagine I’d like the Disney version! Disney is currently on my sh*t list!

Bob, the original STAR TREK: PRODIGY was marketed by Nickelodeon. It originally showed up on Paramount+ and now it’s migrated to Netflix. It’s hard to keep up with all the streaming services.

I stand corrected in my orthopedic shoes! I thought Disney owned the franchise now! I don’t have the premium stations so I have to guess on some of these! Doesn’t Disney have The Mandolorian!?

I haven’t followed STAR TREK since the NEXT GENERATION program and movies, years ago. I still remember when the original series was pitched as “WAGON TRAIN in outer space”!

Fred, yes, I remember that “WAGON TRAIN in Outer Space” description of the original STAR TREK. Of course, very few Millennials or Gen X or Z know what WAGON TRAIN was.

Albeit, it’s easier (or certainly cheaper) to see WAGON TRAIN than any of the ST current-production series. even If all are lost in the panoply of content.

Todd, Disney+ is losing money on the STAR WARS and MARVEL series they’ve developed for their streaming service. The Writers’s Strike and Actors’s Strike may have something to do with that situation.

    Pass.

We just watched the last series of DISCOVERY and it was a major disappointment. Also, Jackie wanted to re-watch THE NEXT GENERATION, probably our overall favorite STARK TREK show, and the first few episodes were embarrassingly bad.

Yes, there was a rather notable improvement of TNG after Roddenberry died, and it no longer needed to hew to his increasingly ossified view of how the series should work.
