I’m a fan of Starbucks’s Blonde Roast coffees. During our visit to Ohio last week, I discovered Starbucks Sunrise Blend, smooth coffee with hints of chocolate. Starbucks features various Blonde Roast coffees throughout the year…and then they disappear. If you like mild, smooth coffee–without the “bite” of some of Starbucks’s stronger coffees–I highly recommend Sunrise Blend. Do you have a favorite coffee? GRADE: A
No to any Starbucks Blonde Blend. Yes, your ordinary Starbucks can be too strong/bitter. The blonde, milder version has more caffeine, not less as one would think. We make half and half – half Starbucks Dark French Roast (whole beans, ground) and half Eight O’Clock Medium 100% Colombian Peaks (described as “Rich, Winey & Full Bodied).
Jeff, more caffeine is great in my book!
The one job where I ran the morning coffee pots, I would always make a pot of espresso grind in the standard drip machines we had, and only the Italian woman engineer and I would drink it without complaint. The other folks could have their coffee-water! (They had several pots of those…)
Todd, I’ve always preferred “real” coffee: not de-cafe, not coffee-water. But different strokes for different folks…
My mother had Krohn’s for nearly all her adult life, so I was introduced to Sanka, Postum, etc. from early on. Worse things can happen, but strong coffee is better. But no one in my family ever preferred water slightly dusted with coffee.
Todd, Diane’s mother would re-use tea bags and preferred coffee-water.
And, of course, what my mother suffered with was Crohn’s disease, rather than “Krohn’s”….
Starbucks coffee has a burnt taste for me, an acquired taste I have never acquired. Their many versions of “coffee” are just too frou-frou for me. I prefer my coffee to taste like coffee — strong, black, with no sugar ‘cuz I’m sweet enough. And, geez Louise, don’t get me started on their prices!
I have two cups of coffee in the morning. It helps bring out the curmudgeon in me.
Jerry, I learned to drink coffee the way my parents drank it – straight, black, no sweetener. But when I do have Starbucks (from the store) I have to add sweeteners and half & half. Just too bitter. I don’t get how people drink that stuff all day every day.
Jeff, tomorrow I’ll deliver the answer to your questions about why people can drink that stuff all day every day!
My TV GUIDE friend and coworker April was startled at how much coffee I would down over the course of the day at that job. Database schedule editing. Nuff said.
Todd, I mostly drink my coffee in the morning. But, occasionally I’ll have a cup in the afternoon or when we’re dining out. It has no effect on my sleep.
Jerry, no burnt taste with Starbucks Blonde coffees. I drink my coffee black, too!
Tea for me. I know coffee is good for you and I wish I could acquire the taste.
Patti, Patrick drank tea until he started to work for GOOGLE. Now, Patrick drinks coffee all the time. Maybe it’s the culture…
I’m pretty catholic in my taste for coffees and teas (and nearly every sort of beverage)…fell in love with mocha particularly as a child. These days, what I drink most often is bottled, refrigerated “extra bold” Stok (of the adorable long-vowel logo), often in half and half with sugar-free almond milk, or in smaller doses straight…or when particularly decadent, I put it in equal thirds with an Atkins chocolate “meal replacement”/vitamin shake.
Now to go in search of Stash brand chai tea bags, as we have finally run out of our stash, koff, from purchase at the vanished Genuardi supermarket chain…bought out by Safeway, before Safeway was bought out by Von’s, after Von’s bought out Philly-area legacy chain (even more than Genuardi’s, if less good) Acme…so now essentially, Acme is full of Safeway brands, but alas not their grapefruit soda (I’d need diet these years) or Stash teas…
Todd, I go to Canada to buy tea. They have the Real Thing, not wimpy Salada tea.
Yeah, Stash isn’t mild Lipton’s, either.
When I was working I had a coffee maker in my office and guzzled the stuff all day. But since I retired 18 years ago my desire (or need) for the stuff has slowly lessened to the point where a couple of cups in the morning is enough. I do feel a bit less hyper, but not significantly.
Michael, one of my colleagues at the College used to drink 18 cups of coffee per day. And, yes, he was hyper.
I will drink teas especially in winter but have never developed a taste for coffee.
Steve, have you tried any teas from Canada?
Yes. Starbucks, black and strong, no sugar. Coffee is coffee, it’s supposed to be bitter. I drink 2 cups in the morning. We prefer Yukon, but any full caff bold blend will do. As for tea, I only drink iced tea, and we make sun tea all Summer and keep a carafe in the refrigerator. Otherwise, I drink water, 70-80 oz. per day. I maybe drink one diet soda a week.
Rick, I occasionally drink iced tea. Diane buys PURE LEAF, Black and Unsweetened. I have a couple of cans of Diet Pepsi in the fridge at all times.
I drink mostly water, like Rick. I start when I get up and usually have three glasses before breakfast. In the summer I like iced coffee (in the afternoon, not before breakfast.) Only drink Diet Pepsi (or Diet Coke, if the former isn’t available) with pizza or burgers.
Jeff, since the Pandemic hit, I’ve been drinking Diet Tonic Water with quinine in it.
Coffee–ptui! Bitter swill unfit for human consumption!
Bob, you might like it better with some Vodka in it…
Nope! I hate mocha flavored anything!
