Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen Are Engaged!
Some Good Things happened in 2024. Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen got engaged. Taylor Swift made a couple billion dollars. The U.S. won 126 medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions might be headed for the Super Bowl.
But a lot of Bad Things happened in 2024. The Election, the persistence of Covid-19, the deaths of Dame Maggie Smith and James Earl Jones and Donald Sutherland and Quincy Jones, and a total of 711 people killed and 2,363 people wounded in 585 shootings in the USA.
Despite the storm clouds on the horizon, It will be the wit and wisdom of Patti, Jeff, Deb, Rich, Beth, Todd, Art, Willam, Maggie, Bob, Tracy, Carl, Lauren, Steve, Jerry, Wolf, Stan, Dan, Neeru, Michael, Byron, Elgin, Angela, Scott, Jim, John, Kevin, Randy, James, Kent, Fred, and Matthew as well as all of you who make this blog a part of your day that will help us all get through this mess.
Thank you, George, in your generosity with your time and your literary and a/v items. Stay healthy, along with your family…best new Polar flavor, by me, is Spiced Pear Cider seltzer…
Todd, your erudite comments always improve the blog. Thank you for your avid participation! I’ll look for Spiced Pear Cider seltzer! Sounds yummy!
Wegmans’ Cranberry Apple isn’t as good, but is still good, and both, alas, are “seasonal” winter flavors. (My perennial favorite among the Wegmans-brand seltzers is Orange Pineapple, followed by several.)
Todd, I drink Wegman’s Diet Tonic Water with Quinine which has reduced inflammation in my hands. I used to have to get cortisone shots every six months as my hands swelled up. But with the Diet Tonic Water, there’s no need for the shots any more.
Yours is the first place I come to every morning. Keep up the good work—we’re going to need all the safe spaces we can get very soon!
Deb, your encyclopedic knowledge of music and literature and romance brings brings a special vibe to the blog! I’ll keep up the Good Work as long as commentators like you help me out. Thank you for all you do!
You have been a faithful blogger since Bill gave you that advice. Keep on trucking!
Patti, Bill Crider set the bar high with his unique blog. I attempt to post something interesting every day that will attract insightful comments like yours. Thank you for your support.
Your blog is usually the most interesting thing on the web each day, George. We try to do our part, and, amazingly, you don’t even have to pay us…er, you don’t pay the others, do you, George? …George? …George?
Jerry, I do express my appreciation for commentary by sending CHRISTMAS BOXes of goodies!
Bill was incredible in that he could sometimes post 5-10 times a day. But for sheer variety of interests, it would be hard to think of a place with more different things going on than The Kelley one. If I skip the Disney+ cartoons, I’m sure there are people who are interested, just as I’m interested in most of the books, the CD collections, the theater and TV stuff, etc. The real beauty is, you never know what you’ll find. W@ill it be the adventures of Big Orange or a review of a new coffee or Dyson product?
Jeff, thank you for your kind words. As you know, I have a variety of interests and if my post today doesn’t click with you, the one tomorrow might. Bill Crider’s blog set the standard for great blogging. I rarely do multiple posts in a day, but Bill would post 5-10 times and not break a sweat. I miss Bill and his marvelous blog.
Nothing to add regarding the A+ blog that the others haven’t already said. 2025 will probably see me slip further into blissful ignorance about 20-something “celebrities” and “influencers.” I know nothing about Hailee Steinfeld other than that she was in that remake of TRUE GRIT a few years ago.
Fred, I loved Hailee Steinfeld in TRUE GRIT and she’s also the voice of Gwen Stacy in the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse movies. Josh Allen has great taste!
Congratulations on another year, George. Looking forward to another year of your thoughts and recommendations. This is always my oasis in the internet wasteland.
Byron, you insights into music and the music industry are always fascinating. Thanks for being a part of this blog!!!
So sweet of you George, Thank you very much. Hope 2025 has begun well. Looking forward to interesting stuff.
Neeru, thanks for your wonderful comments! The mix of comments enhances the blog and you are a big part of that energy!
I look forward to another year of being treated like the field (hand) who as to have all his posts moderated! Yes, it still irks me even if it isn’t your doing! Otherwise, I enjoy most of your posts! Being Little Mister Sunshine, I see good days ahead for the Republic! I also thank you for the effort you put in to bring us a daily report, even if it’s something as innocuous as buying a new scrub brush! Carry on!!!
Bob, as I’ve said in the Past, you’re the straw that stirs the drink on this blog! I hope your prediction of Good Days ahead comes true…but the probabilities look murky.
Having just reviewed Trump’s press conference today, that is to say the least.
Todd, Trump’s obsession with Greenland and the Panama Canal just points to his derangement.
