I didn’t think the NFL could pull off 256+ games during a pandemic. Yet, here we are at the ultimate game. Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs try to defend their Super Bowl Championship against the home-town Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Chiefs are 3-point favorites. Tom Brady is trying to win the Super Bowl again. I’m rooting for the Chiefs. Who do you think will win today? What’s on your Super Bowl menu?
I don’t care who wins. If I watch it at all it will be because of the commercials.
Steve, same here. I’ll watch the commercials, read a book during the game, and look up when anyone scores.
I’d prefer a Chiefs win, but mostly I just want to see a good game.
Michael, that is always the hope: a Good Game. But there have been some Super Bowl yawners.
I think way too many people are buying into the Tom Brady mystique. He almost threw away the Packers game with three second half interceptions. The Chiefs are way more talented and Andy Reid has had two weeks to prepare. Granted, the Chiefs under performed much of the season, but they were able to turn it on when they needed to, and all you need to do is look at the Bills game. I am notorious for not being accurate, but I don’t think it will be nearly as close as so-called “experts” want you to think it will be. Chiefs by at least two touchdowns.
Jeff, Tony Romo–who is calling the Super Bowl today–claims this might be the best Super Bowl matchup “of all time.” I’m guessing a lot of that statement is hype.
Don’t like Romo, but that’s who we’re stuck with.
Agree with you, Jeff, but Mahomes may not be as mobile as usual due to injury.
I want the Chiefs to win, and hope they will. Although Brady is talented, I remember a lot of stink from the Patriots, so hope the Bucs make it interesting, but lose
What injury?
Maggie, I think Tom Brady has won enough Super Bowls (6) so I’ll be rooting for the Chiefs.
Oh, you asked about the menu. We’re having a roast beef hero with homemade au jus and onions, with a potato knish, sour pickles and carrots for fiber. Strawberry shortcake for dessert.
Jeff, I plan to make a pizza. Diane likes spinach on her pizza so that will land on her side and I’ll go with the traditional pepperoni on my half. Of course, plenty of pizza sauce and mozzarella! Diane bought some Kettle Cooked Potato Chips and she’ll whip up some yummy dip. Maybe some wine.
We got great shrimp oregenata heroes and a Caesar salad yesterday (yum!), and got a free bottle of wine because it took longer than the time they promised. Luckily for them, they opened a liquor store across from the restaurant before the pandemic, and it has been keeping them going for the last year, especially as the restaurant is takeout only and has no outdoor seating (probably because there is no space, since there is a bus shelter directly in front of the door). We love their pizza but it doesn’t travel as well as eating it there, so we are getting heroes and salads and occasionally pasta,
Jeff, like you and Jackie, we have found some Take-Out travels better than others.
Mounds of chicken wings—some using a garlic-Parmesan marinade, but most using a buttermilk marinade, to be smothered in hot sauce once they’re out of the air fryer. I’ll be making guacamole to eat with tortilla chips. Didn’t plan a dessert, but in this house, there’s always chocolate! As for the game: on Thursday, I would have given the Chiefs the edge, but I understand on Friday Andy Reid’s son was involved in a serious automobile accident that sent two children to the hospital and the implication was the son was “impaired” while driving. I think that will create a distraction Reid doesn’t need and Brady is nothing if not someone who exploits an opponent’s vulnerability. Therefore, I’m choosing Tampa by a touchdown.
Deb, you always offer a delicious menu! There is a chicken-wing shortage around here so Diane opted out of going from store to store trying to find acceptable wings. The pizza and wing places around there do an incredible business on Super Bowl Sunday. One pizza place–La Nova’s–plans to make and sell over 1,000 pizzas today…and a TON of wings!
I suggested that John buy wings early and put them in the freezer, so he bought a bunch over a week ago. Sure enough, sometime this week I read a news headline that the US is running out of chicken wings!
Deb, you were smart to think and buy ahead! Yes, some pizza places around here have announced that those customers who didn’t order early might not get the chicken wings they crave!
MTG says the wing shortage is due to left-wing radical mask-wearers.
Rick, I assume the wing shortage culprits–left-wing radical mask-wearers–are from California.
I guess I’m in a minority here, but not a wing lover. Jackie likes them so I always give mine to her.
Jeff, I’m a casual chicken wing eater. I prefer pizza.
Yesterday I placed my usual $50 bet on the Dallas Cowboys. I find I get better odds closer to game time,
Dan, perhaps you might consider a POWERBALL ticket, too!
I answered about the game above. Since it’s just me, pulled pork (bought in tub to heat up) sliders. And a side of pickles and baked beans
I’m pulling for KC.
I’m having weight and glucose probs, in spite of strict self-control, so I got an 8 oz. bottle of Glucerna for breakfast, and will have a small green salad with cucumber, and oil & vinegar dressing for dinner. No lunch, snacks or treats. I’m bummed.
Rick, Glucerna is not one of my favorite beverages. I prefer a Starbucks Double-shot.
Rick, Mahomoes hurt his ankle in the last game. He’s still able to play and just may be a bit less mobile
Jeff I’m like you, not a fan of wings. Give me a thigh anytime
I’m hoping the Chiefs win! We have no food plans that I know of!
Bob, you need some chips and dip (at least!) for a proper Super Bowl viewing!
Linda surprised me with nachos! The game sucked!
Bob, I think “sucked” is too kind a word. I tuned out before Half-time.
I’m not a fan at all but my wife’s son just told me that he and his wife are watching the superbowl here in Hungary – probably on the net …
Hope you all enjoyed it.
A bit OT:
Bob Lefsetz (pop music executive) wrote something on his wp blog on the music performance at the bowk’s halftime – did you hear it and enjoy it?
Wolf, this year’s Super Bowl was a dud. Dull, dull, dull.
