The current format for most Network and Cable shows is to take “breaks” during the season. Tonight, The Flash on CW and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC present their “Fall Finales.” The Flash will take on the murderer of his mother (according to the Previews) while the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. descend into the deadly underground alien city under San Juan where they need to take the McGuffin–er, The Obelisk–to the Temple. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is basically a long advertisement for The Avengers 2 movie coming out in May 2015. In January, Agent Carter, a S.H.I.E.L.D. retro-series, will take the ABC Tuesday at 9 P.M. time slot for eight episodes until Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns. If you’re looking for some diverting TV based on comic books, these two shows fit the bill. You can find past episodes online or ON DEMAND.
Grew bored with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. early on. Still hanging with THE FLASH despite my reservations about his youth.
Randy, AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. had a few tedious episodes, but the plots have become more complicated and the action has been amped up.
George, I haven’t seen AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. and would like to watch it for Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) whom they bumped off in THE AVENGERS. I liked his character in THE AVENGERS and IRON-MAN.
Prashant, Clark Gregg is terrific as Agent Coulson. I’m sure AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. will show up in your neighbor on DVD and Blu-ray soon.
Yawn. Not for me. I’m waiting for the movie.
Jeff, AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D is just a long commercial for THE AVENGERS 2.
Haven’t tried either yet and with arc formats, probably won’t. The one thing I don’t like about continuing story lines is it makes it difficult to jump in.
Patti, you’re exactly right. But you might want to “jump in” to AGENT CARTER (the 8-episode retro mini-series) when it starts on ABC on January 6, 2015.
Haven’t watched either, but am intrigued by the ads for Agent Carter, a S.H.I.E.L.D, as I like the retro look of it. Is there any chance the writing will be any good?
Rick, I’m looking forward to AGENT CARTER, too! I like the retro theme. It’s only going to be an 8-episode mini-series so let’s hope the writing is up to snuff.
