Eric Greitens’ story of how he became a Navy SEAL with tours in Iraq, Bosnia, Rwanda, Afghanistan, Kenya, and plenty of “hot spots” is enlightening and frightening. Greitens’ description of SEAL training and “Advanced Combat Training” was an eye-opener for me. If you’re interested in reading a thoughtful account of a citizen-soldier who has strong views on war and peace and the role of citizens in defending their country, The Heart and The Fist presents insights you’re not going to find elsewhere. GRADE: A
I’m sure this is in Jackie Meyerson’s library.
If it’s not, it should be, Bill.
Not yet, Bill, but it might end up there.
She’s read a lot about their Advanced Combat Training, George, so she’s up on that.
I was astonished at what these guys do in training and “advanced combat training,” Jeff. But, I’m sure Jackie knows all about it.
The most interesting section was about Hell Week, where Greitens explains how he got through it by concentrating on his fellow trainees, doing his best to help them to succeed.
Yes, that was a very moving chapter, Drongo. It showed that Greitens is the ultimate “team player.”
Jackie says to say she “could have written the book” but I wouldn’t take that literally.
😉
I can’t think of anyone who knows more about the Navy SEALS than Jackie, Jeff!
