I finally caught up with The Ides of March, a slick political thriller. Ryan Gosling plays a smart political operative working on George Clooney’s Presidential campaign. Gosling discovers a secret that could change the whole political race. I enjoyed the suspense in this film and the talented cast: Gosling, Clooney, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei, and Evan Rachel Wood. Check out the trailer below. GRADE: A-
Good one. We rented it in Florida last winter. I found the way (WARNING) Gosling sold out a little far fetched (END WARNING) but I liked it. You can’t go wrong with that cast.
Love the cast of THE IDES OF MARCH, Jeff. The ending was a little too pat, but within the amoral picture of politics this film presents, completely logical.
Love this one. Just gave it to my son, in fact.
Wal-Mart had THE IDES OF MARCH for $4 this weekend, Patti. A bargain!
I loved this movie and think the promo poster is outstanding. There’s not much difference between the characters of Clooney and Gosling by the end of the movie.
I didn’t think it far-fetched but a distinct disturbing possibility. There seems to be something suspect about everyone who goes into politics!
Even LINCOLN shows that politics is a dirty game, Beth. THE IDES OF MARCH makes this even more apparent.
I missed this one at the cinemas and really wanted to see it having really like Clooney’s CONFESSIONS OF A DANGEROUS MIND and GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK (the less said about LEATHERHEADS the better, right?). Time to get the Blu-ray!
I missed THE IDES OF MARCH when it first came out, Sergio. I’m glad I finally caught up with it. As I mentioned to Patti, Wal-Mart had THE IDES OF MARCH for $4 this weekend. You’ll really enjoy it!
Or you can rent it on Redbox for $1.20 like we did.
