THIS WILL NOT PASS: TRUMP, BIDEN, AND THE BATTLE FOR AMERICA’S FUTURE By Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns

Well, this did not pass. Biden pulled out of the Presidential race and now Trump and J.D. Vance face Kamala Harris. With only 106 days to the Election, the clock is ticking on campaigning and finding undecided voters to sway.

I have no special insights into Biden’s decision, but I suspect the fact that Biden was behind Trump in all key seven Battleground States–Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin–had a lot to do with decision.

Now Trump is the oldest Presidential candidate–with some memory problems. J.D. Vance–who has done nothing in the Senate in 18 months–faces the blowback on his plans for a National Abortion Ban, his lack of support for Ukraine, his opposition for addressing Climate Change, his 2020 Election denialism, and his support for the January 6th “hostages.”

Is it too late for the Democrats to win in November? Who should Kamala Harris chose for her VP? Will Trump debate Kamala…or just insult her? GRADE: Obsolete

What memory problems? “Person, man, woman, camera, TV . . .” Anyway, memory loss is the least of Trump’s many forms of dementia. Let’s hope the Democrats make a shrewd, concerted effort in the next three months. Based on evidence so far, it doesn’t look good. Meanwhile, the biggest laugh of the weekend was the report of Joe Manchin floating the idea of a run.

As Harold Wilson (Britain’s Prime Minister in the late 1960s) once observed, “A week is a long time in politics.”

Deb, and 107 days probably feels like a year. But the dynamics of this Presidential Election changed radically with Biden’s withdrawal. Trump is pissed because the Republicans spent their Convention beating up on Biden…and now he’s gone!

Never fear, the GOP still has untold stores of racism & misogyny to unload on a bi-racial female candidate.

Though it is remarkable how many like to refer to her as a black woman, as if being half-Indian American was a trivial fact in comparison. Nigel Faraje, UK’s chief fascist, made a loud point of calling her African yesterday, which is somewhat less true than calling Drumpf European. Indian/Jamaican-American, sure.

I saw Manchin on Morning Joe and he said he is NOT running. My guess is, his support level was nil.

We’ll see who she picks as her running mate: Roy Cooper? Mark Kelly?

This is driving Trump batsh!t crazy. EVERYTHING was geared to him running against Biden, whatever they say to the contrary. “Kamala wants to take away your precious plastic straws” is the best they’ve got? Weak, dude. And by the way. You’re OLD.

The latest: Trump claims “Fraud” (as Deb would say, pot – meet kettle) and wants a refund on his campaign spending so far because it’s NOT FAIR that Biden dropped out. How can you not laugh at that?

Jeff, and then there’s J.D. Vance demanding that Biden exit the White House since he’s not running for President! Trump and Vance are wackos!

I doubt it! Will she run on her great achievements as the Border Czar? Her great achievements as an Attorney General? Her affair with Willie Brown? Her cackling speeches? Her skill as a fellatrix?

Bob, I think Kamala and the Democrats will run on protecting women’s health care rights and American Democracy.

It writes itself: The Prosecutor vs. The Felon.

Trump has already said he won’t debate her.

Well…neoliberals disappointed that Biden became mostly an heir to the New Deal/Great Society were clearly pleased, given the influx of “small-donor” campaign funds.

Little reason to think she won’t be a vastly better president, even if not my ideal, than Drumpf and Drumpf’s Empty Suit would-be Veep/probable president within the first two years. Suspect the token White Guy will get the #2 offer among Dems, and there have been much worse VPs than, say, Gabby Gifford’s husband. As noted elsewhere, I think that’s what Joe Manchin was offering himself up as, really. Mark Kelly would be a better pick.

Though if it went to AOC, I’d be improbably happy. I note today that some gun folk are very happy with her questioning of the Secret Service head,, while many also resent her for asking intelligent questions (she does like to study up).
