I ordered Meghan Trainor’s Title CD after reading a story about doo wop in the Wall Street Journal. You can read that doo wop article here. I listened to Meghan Trainor’s album and enjoyed the Fifties feel to it. Yes, some of the songs have doo wop elements. If you’re looking for an entertaining retro album, I recommend Meghan Trainor’s Title. Take a listen below. GRADE: A

My girls had been listening to “All About that Bass” (and its body-image positive message) for weeks before they actually saw a picture of Megan Trainor. Based on her sound, they couldn’t believe she was white!
Deb, “All About the Bass” is Meghan Trainor’s Big Hit, but I’m delighted by the Fifties music feel of most of her songs. Especially, “What If I (Want to Kiss You Tomorrow).”
I should introduce my nieces to this – thanks George.
Sergio, Meghan Trainor’s retro music is well worth a listen. And your nieces will enjoy these songs, too.
I see what you mean about the doo wop sound, but I also hear country in this song.
Jeff, Meghan Trainor is blending musical styles. You’re right about a hint of Country & Western in the doo wop mix.
Never a fan of 50’s pop or doo wop. The best thing about the 50’s for me was rockabilly and Chuck Berry.
Steve, I grew up with doo wop and rockabilly radio stations. All gone now…
I see I was right; she’s written songs for Rascal Flatts too.
Jeff, Meghan Trainor is very talented. She can sing in a number of styles. And her lyrics are clever.
Written for Rascal Flatts? Another reason to avoid.
George-I’m going on 67 next month but doo wop was pretty much done by the time I hit my teens. I basically grew up with the British Invasion and Bob Dylan.
Steve, I turn 66 in June. I was a big fan of Motown music in the Sixties. I still love that stuff!
Yes, doo wop was mostly over for me too, but I learned a lot of it working with a real 50s greaser in 1966 and have been a fan of the music ever since. We’ve been to many concerts. In fact we saw Dion in concert last year and have tickets to see him again this year. He sings some of his new stuff along with classic doo wop. “I Wonder Why” is still a classic.
Jeff, I’m a big fan of Dion’s “Teenager in Love.” And I enjoyed Sha-na-na’s faux-doo wops songs.
