It’s been a decade since TOY STORY 2 delighted us. Now, Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), Cowgirl Jessie (Joan Cusack) are back with new adventures and new toys, notably Ken (Michael Keaton). Andy, the boy who played with the toys, is now going to college. The toys find themselves donated to Sunnyside, a day care center. But, not everything is as it should be at Sunnyside. In this summer of cinematic drivel and clunky recycled remakes, Toy Story 3 stands out as being as good as the classic first movie in the series. That’s really saying something. GRADE: A+
It’s about time a decent summer movie opened. In a year of SEX & THE CITY 2 and other crap, finally something worth seeing.
TOY STORY 3 is the best summer movie out there, Jeff.
I am really looking forward to this one. Waiting for a rainy Monday to take my grandson.
Be sure to take some Kleenex, Patti. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
George, even before I fired up the computer this morning, I knew you were going to review TOY STORY today.
According to Sunday night’s news, this made $109 million at the box office. Glad a good summer flick has finally been released and is doing well.
TOY STORY 3 is a wonderful movie, Drongo! PIXAR perfected the telling of these universal, timeless stories. Yes, $109 million is impressive…and well deserved!
This is he strongest review of the film I have read. The L.AS. Times gave it a 3 of 5, saying that while it was better than most of the other summer films (so far) it was far below the standard set by the first film and that the 3-D was more gimmick than improvement. Which 3-D format did you see it in, Real-D or the other one?
I’ve been a big fan of all the TOY STORY movies, Rick, so you might factor that in. The Regal Theater showed TOY STORY 3 in Real-D. Any film that makes my eyes misty gets extra points.
