Five minutes into UP I had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. When Carl Fredricksen’s house takes to the air, I felt elation. When the menacing talking dogs attacked Fredricksen and his explorer scout friend, I felt like jumping out of my seat to help them. The chase scenes in and on the dirigible equaled anything in an Indiana Jones movie. Pixar’s 10th film is terrific, the 3-D effects are great, and for moments in the movie I thought I was watching real people not animation. Go see UP and experience that “sense of adventure” again! GRADE: A
I really need to get out of the house and see this.
UP is the best movie I’ve seen in 2009.
I am dying to see this but I have a reluctant partner to persuade.
I was a little reluctant to see UP myself. But the first five minutes will win over the most fervent doubter. Pixar does it again! You and your husband will love UP.
Definitely worth getting out & fussing w/the 3-D glasses.
The 3-D effects are first-rate.
I saw UP last Friday and had a similar reaction. I only saw it in 2D but that didn’t matter. I will definitely be getting this when it comes out on DVD.
And did you notice that none of the nasty dogs were malamutes?
If you find the opportunity to see UP in 3-D, you won’t be disappointed. I thought only the “alpha” dog was evil. The rest of the pack just followed him.
We’ll be seeing it in 3-D a week from Tuesday. Really looking forward to it. The write-up in Time should hekp the box office a lot.
We usually go to movies on Tuesday nights, and tomorrow is (finally) Star Trek.
You’ll like both STAR TREK and UP in 3-D.
