My Dad landed at Normandy and was also at the Battle of the Bulge, luckily he was Radar and not a fighting soldier. He’s ninety-five this month. Thanks Dad. He came home to a lot of horrible stuff, too.
My Dad’s destroyer was hit by a Japanese kamikazee plane and he was injured (later awarded a Purple Heart). Sadly, my Dad died 10 years ago, but I think about him every day, especially Veterans Day.
My father was a Navy corpsman who landed on several islands with the Marines. He was shot in the leg during one of these actions but went on to finish 20 years in the service. That’s how I came to be a Navy brat born at the Brooklyn Naval Hospital. I served in Nam as an Army engineer and am close to having 31 years as a civilian employee of the Air Force. Slopping at the federal trough is a proud Napier tradition.
BTW, that’s a swell illo you have there, George. I’ve copied it and will use it some day.
Happy Veteran’s Day to all, from a stateside soldier. Some go to Nam, some drive tanks around Ft. Knox, teach some AIT and pilot a typewriter. Go figure.

We appreciate your service to our country, too, Bob. Thank you. Glad you like the Veterans Day graphic!

It all counts, Rick. Thank you for serving our country.
