VICE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE 2024 (CBS)

According to the latest poll, only about one-quarter of voters have a favorable opinion of Vance, while the rest are undecided. By contrast, Walz enjoys a stronger position, with around 40% of voters viewing him positively–a 15-point lead.

I’m guessing this Vice Presidential Debate will be another circus with Vance making stories up and Walz being folksy. Are you going to watch the Vice Presidential Debate? You know Trump will be watching!

Will not watch. I know who I’m voting for—and there’s only so much savage indignation my blood pressure can stand!

Covid and flu busting to some degree. I applied to be a poll worker, but no reply. Perhaps they read too many of my online comments. (Hey, I was a Green and Citizens Party supporter when I was a voter registrar in Hawaii, and served all.)

Like Deb, I will not be watching. There is only so much I can take of Vance’s lying, smirky, ignorant, and bigoted face.

I am still amazed that CBS got so much flack for fact-checking Trump’s major lies. When Trump protested, “They fact checked me and did. not fact check her!”, what he was saying was they caught me lying. Again, only the major lies were fact checked; it they covered every lie in the debate, we’d still probably be there. Trump’s an idiot.

    1. Had NO intention of watching the VP Debate. But then, few do outside the media and (ahem) political junkies like George.
    2. Fortunately, I have a ready made excuse: we’re going to see Graham Nash and Special Guest Judy Collins in concert at Carnegie Hall tonight.

Jerry, this is just speculation, but I’m guessing Nash–82 years old–and Judy Collins–85 years old–didn’t manage their money right so that’s why they’re still working into their 80s.

Right, George. I was going to say that he probably had to pay his ex-wife, who (as Deb would point out) he dumped after 38 years for a (much) younger model, but I see she has since died (and he married the other woman).

      Congratulations!
that#s one of the things i really missed by not living in the USA – having the chance to go to all those fabulos concerts!
      Rather OT:
German and British media are filled with fond memories of Kris Kristodderson who just passed away.

        sorry for all those mistakes!
i had a little accident, my left arm is partially in a plaster cast – but i’m ok

Wolf, we saw Kris Kristofferson with The Highwaymen in a FREE concert in Central Park- Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings are, sadly, gone too. Only Willie Nelson is left to carry on, though even he is wobbling these days.

A quick healing, Wolf! Kristofferson certainly got in his own way as much as any performer, but nonetheless did some good work, and nearly as much as an actor as a musician and composer.

How can I not watch? Like a car crash or the Biden/Trump catastrophe, it’s the kind of thing you dread to witness but can’t look away from. Let’s see if Walz or the moderators bring up Springfield, OH, and how the Project 2025 Hillbilly responds. I’m waiting for the next de-evolution in political debates, where the opponents are armed with swords and tridents, and viewers vote thumbs up or thumbs down via an instantaneous poll.

I will take a lot of grief from my friends, but I am opting out after spending all day at the doctor and dentist. Although it ended with a lovely lecture on Emily Dickinson.
