This album is Moby’s best since his 1999 hit, Play. You’ve heard Moby’s work as music in commercials by Nokia, Vodafone, and dozens of companies. Wait for Me features atmospheric music with haunting melodies. I know many people who refuse to listen to techno, but Moby’s music eschews the relentless synthesizer rhythms that turn most people off. I found this album refreshing and I think you will, too. GRADE: B+
Interesting. I have heard bits and pieces of Moby, but never a whole piece or entire album. How does this music stack up against that of Brian Eno?
Moby’s music is not as moody as Brian Eno’s, Rick. There are plenty of up-tempo tracks with catchy hooks. I’ve liked all of Moby’s CDs.
I listened to one of his CDs from our library last year and liked a lot of it. Just needed to give my ears a few minutes to get used to something new.
You’re right about getting used to Moby’s music, Patti. But once your ears adjust, there’s plenty of great music to like.
I just may have to try some of this. Do you recommend this album over the others?
I’m sure you’ll like Moby, Rick, since much of his work sounds like mini-soundtracks. My two favorite Moby CDs are this new one, WAIT FOR ME, and the classic, PLAY.
I had a listen at Amazon MP3 station, and was surprised that most of the songs on this album were vocals, I had the impression it would be an instrumental album. I had a couple of free credits so I just DL’d a couple of them.
PLAY has more instrumentals than WAIT FOR ME, Rick.
