ARIZONA CARDINALS VS. BUFFALO BILLS

The Buffalo Bills take on the visiting Arizona Cardinals led by the injury-prone Kyler Murray. Vegas has made the Bills a 6 ½ point favorite. Since most of the Bills starters didn’t see any action in the Preseason games, this team–with new Offensive and Defensive Coordinators–is an enigma wrapped in a mystery. How will your favorite NFL team perform today?

    Don’t ask.

For the Giants, this (home opener against the Vikings) is an absolutely must-win game. Win, and they could have a mediocre season. (Hey, I’m being realistic!) Lose, and it will get ugly, fast. Brian Daboll and Daniel Jones have a LOT to lose today. Without a good offensive line or Saquon Barkley, and with a – frankly – not up to snuff quarterback, it could be another long, painful, ugly season for Big Blue and their fans.

    *sigh*

    Go, Bills!

Jeff, the ESPN guys just mentioned that the Giants are 1-6 in their last seven Opening Games. Josh Allen also struggles in Opening Games. Last year on Monday Night Football Josh Allen threw THREE interceptions after Aaron Rodgers was hurt.

I told you so. Giants suck big time. No way in hell can they make up an 18 point deficit.

I remember that Bills-Jets game. I kept waiting for Allen to get it together and beat the Jets.

Jeff, although Josh Allen fumbled early in the game against the Cardinals, he came back to score two running TDs to win the game. But, the Bills need to clean up a lot of silly mistakes on both Offense and Defense before they play the Dolphins on Thursday Night Football.

It’s too damn early in the year to be following football! Right now I’m staying up late to watch the West Coast baseball games to see if the Dodgers’ Shohei Otani can become MLB’s first 50/50 player (hitting 50 home runs and stealing 50 bases in a single season); right now he’s 45/45–the first player to do that, but we do like round numbers when discussing statistics. As for football, the Saints were beyond hapless in their pre-season games, and I’m not expecting a miracle to happen just because the actual season has started. The Panthers journey to the Big Easy to take on the Boys in Black & Gold in the Super Dome. I’ll probably watch the game if there isn’t a baseball game that catches my eye, but again—it’s too early and the weather is all wrong for football!

    /And stay off my lawn!

Speaking of which, the Yankees are in Chicago playing the Cubs, and I’m really enjoying the day baseball. You start early, get done in time for a normal dinner hour, and still have the nights free. Bring back day baseball!

My favorite team is Harris-Walz. They’ve already clinched their spot in the finals. They will being going head to head with the once-favored Whining Babies, led by “MAGA” Tangerine and, calling the shots, “Defenestrator” Putin. The Whiny Babies are said to have a very, very offensive lineup. It’s anyone’s guess who will win this crucial game…

Oh. Wait. You’re talking about football. I don’t know a thing about that sport.

The Detroit Lions are picked to finish high. Can they have another great season? Just not sure but I will be watching tonight.

Well, I’m glad for the Bills’ victory, because I picked them in my Survivor Pool. I also picked Atlanta, who lost to the Steelers, and Tampa Bay, who are up 9 over DC at Halftime.

In Survivor Pools, if you’re not familiar with them, you pick a team to win each week. If they win, you survive until next week. If they lose, you’re out. The trick is you can only pick each team once, so late in the season you often only have bad teams to choose from. I usually play three lines, so one pool I’m still in, one I’m out, and I’m waiting on Tampa. I never have much luck in these, and I’m usually out of all three by the sixth week. (The fourth, last year.) My brother does better, often making it close to the end. He’s never won, though.

Jeff, picking the Bills was gutsy given all the changes on Offense and Defense in the off-season. Watching the Cardinal game was almost painful because of the many mistakes.

(Winning the pool we’re in nets you in the vicinity of $9,000, so he’s in agony when he’s finally kicked out.)
