WILD CARD WEEKEND PLAYOFFS: DENVER BRONCOS VS. BUFFALO BILLS (CBS)

The Denver Broncos take on the Buffalo Bills in a Wild Card Weekend Playoff game. The weather in Orchard Park is predicted to be benign for this time in January: temps around 30 degrees with only a few flakes of snow. The Bills are 9-point favorites.

Although the Bills are favored, the Broncos have Nothing To Lose. So wily Head Coach Sean Payton probably has a few tricks up his sleeve to disrupt the Bills on Offense and Defense and Special Teams. Remember when Sean Payton pulled a surprise on-side kick in Super Bowl XLIV?

On the plus side, the Bills are relatively healthy and some of the starters were “rested” last week in the meaningless game in New England. Expect a lot of noise at the stadium! What Wildcard Weekend Playoff games are you interested in?

Bob, I’m just hoping the Bills can beat the Broncos today. Next week, if they win, the Bills face a much tougher opponent: the Ravens!

Well, this one, obviously. But I’m also curious to see how Washington does in Tampa Bay. I’d be shocked if Green Bay beat the Eagles. The MNF game between the Vikings and Rams should be interesting too. I think the Vikings could be in trouble there.

Jeff, my brother is a Vikings fan and he’s excited that the site of the Monday Night Football game is in Arizona because of the wild fires.

The Bills need to pick it up in the second half.

We watched the two games yesterday (side note: when a quarterback throws more interceptions in one game than he threw the entire season, you just have to wonder if gambling interests have members of his family tied up in a basement somewhere), we’ll watch the three today, and the MNF game tomorrow. I don’t have a horse in any of the races, so I can watch without the combination of anxiety, anger, frustration, and (rarely) elation that characterizes my viewing of Saints games, lol. I’ll be rooting for your Bills, George. For all the other games, I’ll be a disinterested bystander.

Alice has asked me to fetch her a bánh mi sandwich from the new Vietnamese place for her game delectation today. I will be rooting, of course, for the Virginia Ambassadors, the Philadelphia Bell, and the Hawaiians of the WFL.

While I fully expect the Bills to win, I have to admit that I’ll be rooting against them for this game. I’d rather the Ravens have a home game against Houston than have to travel to Buffalo. But I’m sure it will be you vs. me next week.

Bills up by a mere DOINK at halftime. Best of luck in the 3rd quarter. CBS seems to have ramped up color saturation for the broadcast. Garish Denver unis match the fiery orange-red we’re familiar with in live shots from LA. Fingers crossed for your guys.

I’m happy with the final score! I slept late and didn’t tune in until the second half so I missed a lot of lackluster play! I’m delighted to see the Stealers lost! Ditto the Chargers!
