Forty-seven years ago, Marvin Gaye recorded You’re the Man, but he got into a disagreement with Barry Gordy at Motown Records and the album was never released. Now, 47 years later, You’re the Man was finally released. Marvin Gaye was at the top of his game in 1971 and this CD shows it. Do you have a favorite Marvin Gaye song? GRADE: A

Probably Sexual Healing or What’s Going One but I’m also partial to Ain’t That Peculiar or Can I Get a Witness.

What’s Going On?
Bob, Marvin Gaye’s music became more socially conscious in the Seventies.
I know!
“Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” (duet with Tami Terrell), “What’s Going On,” “Mercy Mercy Me,” “After the Dance,” and my all-time favorite, “Trouble Man” (which Joni Mitchell and Rickie Lee Jones, among others, have covered).
Deb, you have excellent taste! I love those duets with Tami Terrell!
What’s Going On
Ain’t No Mountain High Enough (and the rest of the Tammi Terrell duets)
I Heard It Through the Grapevine
Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)

I’ve been listening to a couple of his Greatest Hits CDs lately.
Jeff, Marvin Gaye was a major Motown singer who came to a tragic end.
“I Heard It Through The Grapevine” is my favorite.
Rick, I like both Marvin Gaye’s version and Gladys Knight & The Pips’s version of “I Heard It Through the Grapevine.”
