ZYRTEC-D

sneezing[3]
It’s allergy season in Western NY and I have a stuffed up head with a dry cough. Over the years I’ve used Claritin and Allegra (antihistamines) with some success. But last year, when I was visiting my son in Albuquerque, New Mexico and I had an allergy attack, I tried Zyrtec-D. Friends of my mine with severe allergies recommended it to me. And, sure enough, after a couple doses, the worst of the allergy symptoms dissipated. I’m taking Zyrtec-D now and I’m starting to feel better. A Zyrtec-D tablet works 12 hours and I’ve had few side-effects. If you get an allergy attack, you might want to give Zyrtec-D a try.

Don’t have those problems as a rule, thankfully. Jackie found that after several months whatever she is using becomes less effective so the doctor told her to try different things. She mostly has a drip into her throat when trying to fall asleep so takes medications an hour before bedtime.

I have had nasal polyps and use a daily spray of Nasacort.

Rick, you’re lucky. Allergies are a headache (literally). I had allergy shots for years and that helped. But our weather right now is hot and dry–perfect for ragweed.

Well, I just had a fight with influenza – a lot of paper towels were needed, but I’m free of any allergy like most people my age.
However I hear from many younger people that they have grass or other pollen allergies, and sometimes you read about nuts (especially peanuts) allergy etc …
Is this a similar development in the States, more allergies with younger people? Wonder how it happens …

Wolf, the allergy epidemic is Big Business in the U.S. Part of the problem is pollution. Part of the problem is global warming. The drug companies are making billions providing allergy medications. Some work, some don’t.

Allergies are the result of living the life of a sinner. For example, my wife has had them for years and neither shots nor pills have done much to help. I, on the other hand, have none.

I think many younger people have allergy problems because they were not exposed to the outdoors while very young, often due to bubble-wrap, helicopter parents trying to “protect” their precious babies from the awful things in the outdoors such as a bee, or a plant, or whatever. People who were outside a lot as youngsters, from an early age, seem to have significantly less problems. Allergies to cats and dog is a different story.
