12-12-12 THE CONCERT FOR SANDY

I don’t usually recommend live CDs (most of them have bad sound and sloppy production values) but I’m making an exception for this recording of the Concert for Sandy. The line-up is impressive: Bruce Springsteen, Roger Waters, Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, the Rolling Stones, Alicia Keyes, The Who, and Bill Joel. The sound, for once, is surprisingly good. And the proceeds from the concert goes to Hurricane Sandy relief. You get some good music and you’re helping a good cause. What could be a better way to end 2012? Happy New Year everyone!

Did you watch it during its multicast on various networks and cable channels? (Since it was recorded with an ear for broadcast, they made sure the sound was good. ) I did…from time to time (it was easy to leave and come back to, given how many of them were repeating it immediately and had stopped and started at various times…some CW stations and some PBS stations broadcast it, but it was the primary feed for smaller networks such as Ion and LiveWell and a few others, and a slew of cable stations, ranging from HBO to Destination America and. perhaps the most unlikely, FearNet (one of the two horror cable channels…they know real life horror when they see it, I guess). I’ve been contributing to Occupy Sandy.

Our CW station broadcast the concert, Todd. Like you, I drifted in and out depending on who was performing. And, you’re right: the sound was surprisingly good.
