2017 NFL PLAYOFFS DIVISIONAL ROUND: Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City Chiefs (8:05 P. M. NBC) and Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys (4:40 P.M. FOX)

Today’s games look like the pick of the litter! The Kansas City Chiefs are just 1 1/2-point favorites over the surging Pittsburgh Steelers. Obviously, this could be a really close game. Because of the Ice Storm, this game was rescheduled from 1 P.M. to this evening time slot. The game Bill Crider has been waiting for, Green Bay Packers vs. Dallas Cowboys, has the Cowboys favored by 5 points. That seems like a lot. This game could go to Overtime! Who do you think will win today?

My teams are usually doomed just because I root for them, but I want the Chiefs and Packers to win!

BTW, your OWLHOOT package arrived a couple of days ago. Thanks for the zine, DVD, and brick!

Bob, you were on Santa’s GOOD List for 2016. I thought you might enjoy that material about the Beetles. Aren’t you their biggest fan?

Well, we’ll be on the road so won’t get to see this (maybe tonight). I’ve long hated the Cowboys but can no longer stand the Packers either (sorry, Maggie) so find it hard to be objective. Unlike yesterday’s games, the road team could definitely win this one. I’d have to give the Cowboys a slight edge but I would not be shocked if they lost.

As for the other game, we see Kansas City so rarely here that I do not have a picture of them at all, only their record. Still, I’m rooting for them to win.

I’m picking the Steelers and the Cowboys, but agree that both games could go either way. After yesterday’s games were both essentially blowouts (the winning team ahead by at least two touchdowns), I’m not sure about some of these very low odds and spreads.

Deb, I agree with you. Last weekend’s games and yesterday’s games have been snoozers. But today, the four best team match-ups should produce some exciting moments!

The Houston offense stunk up the joint last night, but the defense looked good. So there’s that. As for the Cowboys, I’d definitely take the points. I think the Packers might win the game. Rodgers is on fire.

I’m hoping for a Packers win, but not expecting it. I’d also like the Chiefs to win, but not sure it will happen. (Chiefs QB is a local boy, who I think got a raw deal from the niners when he got hurt and they went with Kapernick. The same thing happened with the chargers and Drew Brees and Brees showed them!!)

I think I’ve developed a system that should prove illuminating. Aaron Rodgers’s ridiculous “gun belt” gesture after a touchdown makes him a silly showboater while Dak Prescott doesn’t have any trademark BS about him. So the Cowboys ought to expose the Packers secondary while managing to open holes for Elliott, who can bounce outside better than anyone since Barry Sanders. Clearly then, the Cowboys will win.

Likewise the system shows that steady Alex Smith will outperform Rothliesberger because although the latter is now married, his past history of sexual assault and similar transgressions should make him vulnerable to an effective Cheif’s pass rush. Antonio Brown will drop or tip passes and that should be enough to derail Pittsburgh’s offense. Being one-dimensional with Bell won’t be enough to overcome his Chief’s counterpart, who will go off with some short passes from Smith. Obviously, the Chiefs will prevail.

What’s the number for Vegas? Is it toll free?

Rick, don’t bet the house! Aaron Rodgers is on fire, but can the Cowboys cool him off? The Steelers are peaking at the Right Time, too. Can the Chiefs win a close game at home? Can’t wait to see the answers.

I wish I cared about this. But once the Lions went down so did my interest. I guess I am not a lover of the game only the team. Or more to the point, the city.

Patti, I have a casual interest in these game. But, like you, since the Buffalo Bills aren’t in the Playoff picture, it’s hard to get worked up over these Playoff games.

I’d like to see the Chiefs and Packers win. Mostly because I don’t like their opponents, though it would be nice to see KC in the title game, it’s been a while.

However, I may not be able to wade through the commercials. I can check the score, ongoing, on the sports site and that’s probably enough.

I finally got my paper and read the sports page about the chargers.

They got a lot of bad press, and a lot of it from LA where it seems they’re not as desirable as spanos thinks. Lots of people making fun of him. One serious article chastised spanos for paying $550 million (I”d heard $650mil) for a relocation fee to the nfl. that coupled with the $350mil the city and county were going to chip in would have left only $2mill for the projected cost of the stadium. So instead of being the TEAM in SD they’re going be be poor relations to the Rams whose owner is I guess far wealthier than spanos. They’ll also compete with major college sports, lakers, etc.

One pundit said he heard spanos wants to sell and figures he can get more there, but with the relocation fee, that doesn’t seem realistic, unless it’s spread over years and passed to new buyer. Wish Mark Cuban wanted an NFL team in SD!!

Maggie, with the Oakland Raiders moving to Vegas and the Chargers moving to LA, the NFL is in flux. We’ll have to see how all this movement works out for the League.

Rick, I didn’t get much reading done during the Packers vs. Cowboys. What an exciting game! The Cowboys deserve credit for coming back from an 18-point deficit.

Jeff, the Cowboys were in trouble, but they got out of it and tied the score. But Aaron Rodgers went Aaron Rodgers on the Cowboys with 35 seconds left in the game!

love that “Aaron Rodgers went Aaron Rodgers on them”

This is the first game I watched all the way thru this year!!

Maggie, the AARON RODGERS SHOW was amazing at the end of game! Most QBs in the NFL would have just let the clock run out and went to Overtime. Not Aaron Rodgers. He won the game!

Both games are now over! I’m glad the hated Cowboys lost but not glad the hated Stealers won!

    It’s Beatles, George! Beatles!
