You’ll find plenty of advice in DiVincenzo’s book, Patti. I’m considering using it in my CONSUMER BEHAVIOR class next semester.

This sort of thing always fascinates me. HOW does this guy know the “when” of these things, and how long will the advice continue to be accurate? And speaking of the best time to fly? Never would be my answer, after all the cr*p the airlines have pulled in the last few years. Example: They raised fares when gas went up. When it came down they…raised fares and started charging for luggage. Bah.

Yeah, but if you have to fly, Rick, Di Vencenzo has some pretty good advice. Most of his recommendations are based on established consumer behavior principles which should be valid for a long time.

I love finding cool stuff like that, Rick! I have boxes of books I haven’t looked at in years. But everytime I do, it’s like Christmas!

On the flying thing, I don’t know his reasoning. But when I flew to Phoenix in August (I know, I should have had my head examined first!) I was surprised at the huge crowds at JFK’s JetBlue terminal at 8 am. The TSA guy said it’s like that every day and the best time to fly is the two hours surrounding noon.

According to Di Vencenzo, noon is a “dead zone” for flights, Jeff. All of the action is at the beginning and end of the day.
