After Colin Kaepernick ran wild against the Packers last week, it’s hard to imagine the Atlanta Falcons winning this game. Especially after the Seahawks almost snatched Victory from the Jaws of Defeat against a sketchy Falcon defense. I’m going with the Niners in this 3 P.M. ET game on FOX. As a Bills fan, I would love to see the New England Patriots lose at home against the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens almost upset the Patriots last year at this time, but former Buffalo Bill WR Lee Evans dropped the Game Winning TD catch in the End Zone. I think we’re looking at a New England Patriots vs. San Francisco Forty-Niners Super Bowl. What do you think?
I’d be very surprised if the Niners lost and shocked if the Patriots lost. I’m with you.
Two weeks from now we’ll be watching the Super Bowl from our hotel in Florida.
Jeff, two weeks from now I might be watching the Super Bowl in front of a 70″ HDTV.
Nice!
The Ravens were shedding tears after their emotional win last week. I doubt they have much left in the tank. The 49ers are playing well, and the Falcons seem just a little soft. I agree George, we’ll have a New England/San Francisco super bowl.
I’m guessing the NFL wants a Patriots vs. Niners Super Bowl, too, Drongo. East Coast team vs. West Coast team: good for ratings.
I agree, and that’s just the way I want to see it. I don’t like the Ravens, Lewis and all his yelling and antics, etc. I hope the Patriots, whom I like as a team, thump the Ravens big time, like win by 20. That may not happen, but any Pats win is a good win. Sorry, George, I just don’t have your rival viewpoint from here. Naturally the Niners are my pick. If I’d had my way it would have been Niners-Seahawks today. Since Atlanta beat my ‘Hawks, I want them to lose today, and I’d be pulling for the Niners anyway.
I think the best ratings are an east coast and a midwest matchup, such as we’d have had if it were, say, Pittsburgh – Green Bay or Giants – Bears or even Patriots – Packers or Bears The networks seem to care much less about the western viewership, even if they get the California viewer count.
Rick, a friend of mine just bought a 70″ VIZIO HDTV and had invited me over to his Super Bowl Party. I’m curious to see what it looks like. His living room is about the same size as my living room.
A 70″ HDTV? Man where do you have room for that? What brand are you getting?
That match up sounds awfully familiar. Same teams, same money year to year.
Money talks, Patti. Especially in professional sports.
Sine the Ninber have already won as I post this, that’s an easy call, but I would have made it anyway. I’m also on board with the Pats winning their game. I’ve been enjoying a damn cold since Thursday so I slept through much of the early game, but joined them in time to see the Niners take the lead. Yee-Haw!
Congratulations on the Niners’ win, Bob. When they were down 17-0 I was starting to get worried.
It was tough but they pulled it out. At this moment the Ravens are ahead but the Patriots are far from done. I don’t like Baltimore either.
The betters who took the Ravens and 9 1/2 points are looking good, Jeff.
I guess George is jumping for joy over the Ravens’ win. I am not so happy. I don’t like Baltimore and now and worried about the Niners against them as they beat the Pats soundly, to my amazement. Brother vs. brother coach matchup an interesting angle. More Ray Lewis… BLECH.
I’m not jumping for joy over the Ravens crushing the Patriots on their home field, Rick. But I think this game showed that Belichick and Brady are showing their age. There may be hope for the Buffalo Bills next season based on this evidence.
Yep, didn’t see that Pats collapse coming at all. That must have been one great halftime speech their coach gave them. “Win one for Jeff Smith.”
I’m rooting for the 49ers in the Superbowl.
No matter how the Super Bowl turns out, Bob, a Harbaugh wins.
Well, the Falcons/Niners game was exciting. I was rooting for the Falcons only because I wanted to see Gonzales going to a Superbowl but I’m happy for Kaepernick. I think I’ll be pulling for the Niners in the big dance. That New England game was a bore. They seemed so lifeless for most of the day. I don’t see how you get that far and can’t generate some enthusiasm for a game.
You’re right, Carl, the Patriots seemed lethargic. The Niners are early 5 1/2 point favorites over the Ravens. I’d be tempted to take the Ravens and the points.
