Ralph Wilson, the 95-year-old owner of the Buffalo Bills, bought up the remaining 4000 tickets so this game wouldn’t be blacked-out. That suggests a waning of fan interest as the 3-7 Bills take on the 5-4 NY Jets. Even more dubious is the Vegas line that makes the Bills a 1-point favorite in this game. Injured QB E.J. Manuel showed plenty of rust with his performance in Pittsburgh last week. Today, Manuel needs to improve…a lot. How will your favorite NFL team perform today?
The Jets will probably win, though they seem often to do the opposite of what they should. I’d like to think the ‘Skins will beat the Eagles and I’m going with the Panthers Monday night over New England.
Randy, I’m shocked the Bills are favored against the Jets today. The Eagles are coming alive with Nick Foles. The Patriots might be looking past the Panthers at their game next week against Peyton and the Broncos.
The 7-2 Saints meet 6-3 San Francisco in the Superdome–which usually means a good game for the Saints (I saw a sign yesterday: Who-Dat Nation 5-0 in the Dome). But, as always, I won’t count it a win until it’s actually in the W column.
Deb, the Niners seem to be unraveling from last year’s successes. The Saints are on a roll (especially at home). I think we’ll be talking about the 8-2 Saints tomorrow.
The Giants have a good chance to step up against the reeling Packers today. They better, what with Seattle and Detroit still to come. I agree about the Eagles.
I agree with you, I don’t get the Bills being favorites either. I expect the Saints to win. It’s on the road where they have difficulties. I am waiting to see if Peyton & the Broncos can end the Chiefs’ unbeaten season.
The NY Times is predicting the Jets will continue their win one, lose one streak and lose in Buffalo today. But then, I would never bet on the Times’s picks.
We don’t get the Niners-Saints game here because of course we get the Seahawks-Vikings game. That’s fine, I’m expecting the Seahawks to win that one, though their injuries on defense might make it exciting, even if Harvin is back to help the scoring side. Sorry, Deb, but I’d be rooting for the Niners because I want the Seahawks to have a tighter lock on NFC home field. I figure both NY teams to lose, Broncos to win, Patriots to win, Eagles to win. No one should be surprised by Foles success with the Eagles, he was great at Arizona (my alma mater).
However, the wife wants the garage clean up so the patio furniture and grill can go in this weekend, so I may be listening on the radio…
I suggested to George yesterday that he do a Saturday college football post like these pro football ones. Any thoughts?
Every time I say the Seahawks should win going away they struggle. Jets are ahead 3-0 as we speak. Rain delay in Chicago.
So far the Jets & Geno Smith are living down to the worst expectations, 17-0.
George, you wondered why the Bills were favored. Bills by big lead right now (12:41 PST)
34-14. Way to go, Jets!
No offense, George, but how do you beat the Saints (sorry, Deb) and get beat badly by Buffalo?
Jeff, my sister has long believed ALL NFL games are fixed. How else to explain what goes on week to week?
Rick, you can host the Saturday College Football postings if you’d like. I teach a class on Saturday and we’re usually going out to dinner and a movie Saturday night so I just don’t see enough college football to have any quality input.
Bob, I’m more convinced than ever that the Saints are the best team in the NFC.
I’ll bet Deb (and Art) were sweating out that finish. It was almost a huge win for San Francisco but they really self-destructed at the end. The Saints are going to have to be a lot better to get to the Super Bowl.
The Saints got lucky, but they usually do at home. I think the Seahawks are as good as the Saints, and they also usually win at home. Question is, who will get the home field advantage in he NFC?
Saints go to 8-2. As noted elsewhere, it was not a pretty win, but a win none-the-less. Saints play the Falcons in Atlanta this coming Thursday. That will be a tough one–the boys in black-and-gold will need to bring their A game to win that.
Btw Jeff, my husband asked the same question re the Jets: they looked like Super Bowl contenders when they beat the Saints two weeks ago and today they got a beat-down from the Bills? Huh?
Rick and Jeff, the Saints have a lot of luck when they play on their home field. The Niners came close, but no cigar.
Deb, the Bills play the Falcons in Toronto in two weeks. Please have the Saints soften the Falcons up on Thursday night.
Check the records, George. The Seahawks are the best team in the NFC.
