Justice League: War tells the origin story of the Justice League as part of DC Comic’s The New 52. Batman, Green Lantern, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Shazam, and Cyborg come together to defend Earth from an alien invasion. If you’re a fan of these super-heroes, you’ll love Justice League: War. My package cost a pittance at Wal-Mart and is one of those increasingly popular Blu-ray-DVD-Digital Ultraviolet packages. In addition to the movie, the Special Features include: Creating Heroes: The Life and Art of Jim Lee and Justice League: War–From Animatic to Pencil Test. On top of that the Blu-ray disc has 4 Vintage cartoons from the DC Comic Vault. Both the DVD and Blu-ray include Deconstructing WAR with Jay Oliva and Jim Lee. There’s plenty here to enjoy. GRADE: B+
George, I grew up on these superheroes. Shazam (Captain Marvel/Billy Batson) came around the same time as Superman and I think he was overshadowed by the man of steel. Compared to Superman, I hardly saw any Shazam comics in my part of the world. I think I have only two in my collection.
Prashant, this new “re-boot” of the JUSTICE LEAGUE gives SHAZAM a big role. You would enjoy this animated feature.
Boy, it looks like that package even has a small figure in it. I’ll admit this looks like fun, though this isn’t the Justice League I like best. That would be Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Atom, Hawkman and Black Canary. Can’t say I ever cared much for Shazam or Cyborg. The extras sound like as much fun as the main feature.
Rick, this JUSTICE LEAGUE: WAR package is full of fun. I enjoyed the Special Features as well as the animated movie. This is a good value.
Captain Marvel was sued by Superman for copyright infringement (that is, their respective companies) and Superman won.
I was never a fan of these huge groups of heroes. The Fantastic Four was about as many as I could take at once. I preferred a lone hero and I loathed kid sidekicks.
Bob, like you, I was never a fan of kid side-kicks although I understand the marketing strategy behind them. And, the Fantastic Four was the epitome of a super-hero group. The Avengers and the Defenders weren’t quite as much fun. More is less.
